Abstract

Disclosed is a liquid container adapted to store liquefied natural gas (LNG). The LNG storage container include a sealing wall directly contacting liquid contained in the tank and a structural wall, which is an exterior wall or inner structure integrated with the exterior wall. The container further includes a plurality of connectors mechanically connecting the sealing wall and the structural wall and an intermediate wall structure positioned between the structural wall and the interior wall. The intermediate wall structure is configured to move relative to at least one of the interior wall and the structural wall.

Claims (32)

1. A ship comprising a tank for containing liquid, the tank comprising:

a sealing wall comprising an innermost surface of the tank that is configured to contact liquid contained in the tank;

a structural wall of the ship comprising a hull;

a plurality of anchors positioned between the sealing wall and the hull, the plurality of anchors comprising a first anchor elongated in a first direction generally perpendicular to at least one of the sealing wall and the hull, the first anchor comprising a first end contacting the sealing wall and a second end connected to the hull; and

an intermediate wall positioned between the hull and the sealing wall, wherein the intermediate wall is configured to slide relative to both the sealing wall and the hull while contacting the hull, and wherein the intermediate wall comprises a surface configured to slide relative to the sealing wall while in contact with the sealing wall.

2. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of anchors are elongated in a direction substantially perpendicular to at least one of the sealing wall and the hull.

3. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the surface of the intermediate wall is not bonded to the sealing wall.

4. The ship of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of through holes are formed in the intermediate wall in a direction substantially perpendicular to at least one of the sealing wall and the hull.

5. The ship of claim 4 , wherein the first anchor is placed in one of the plurality of through holes while the first and second ends are connected to the sealing wall and the hull, respectively.

6. The ship of claim 5 , wherein the intermediate wall comprises a first insulating layer, a second insulating layer and a sealing layer located between the first and second insulating layers, and wherein the first anchor comprises a sealing plate configured to be liquid-tightly connected with the sealing layer.

7. The ship of claim 6 , wherein the sealing plate comprises at least one corrugated portion configured to allow stretching and shrinkage when a force is applied thereto in a direction on a plane where the sealing plate is placed.

8. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the intermediate wall comprises a surface in contact with the hull, and wherein the surface of the intermediate wall is not bonded to the hull.

9. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the hull comprises an exterior wall of the ship, and wherein the second end of the first anchor is connected to the exterior wall.

10. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the hull comprises an exterior hull and an interior hull, and wherein the second end of the first anchor is connected to the interior hull.

11. The ship of claim 1 , wherein the structural wall further comprises an interior partitioning wall fastened to the hull, wherein the plurality of anchors further comprises a second anchor elongated in a direction generally perpendicular to at least one of the partitioning wall and the sealing wall, and wherein the second anchor comprises a first end contacting the sealing wall and a second end connected to the partitioning wall.

12. A ship with a liquid tank, comprising:

a sealing wall comprising an innermost surface of the tank that is configured to directly contact liquid contained in the tank;

a structural wall comprising a hull;

an intermediate wall positioned between the hull and the sealing wall, the intermediate wall comprising a first surface facing the hull and a second surface facing the sealing wall, the first surface contacting the hull; and

wherein the intermediate wall is configured to move relative to both the sealing wall and the hull such that the first surface moves relative to the hull while in contact with the hull.

13. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the second surface contacts the sealing wall, and wherein the second surface is not directly bonded or attached to the sealing wall.

14. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the intermediate wall comprises another surface, wherein the ship further comprises a reinforcing layer positioned between the sealing wall and the other surface of the intermediate wall, and wherein the reinforcing layer contacts at least one of the sealing wall and the intermediate wall.

15. The ship of claim 14 , wherein the reinforcing layer contacts and is fixed to the sealing wall.

16. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the intermediate wall comprises a first insulating layer, a second insulating layer and a sealing layer located between the first and second insulating layers.

17. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the hull comprises an exterior wall of the ship.

18. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the sealing wall comprises a first sealing wall portion and a second sealing wall portion, wherein the first and second sealing wall portions are connected to each other via an angular relationship, wherein the intermediate wall comprises a first intermediate wall portion and a second intermediate wall portion, wherein the first and second intermediate wall portions are connected to each other by substantially the same angle as the first and second sealing wall portions.

19. The ship of claim 18 , wherein the first intermediate wall portion contacts the first sealing wall portion.

20. The ship of claim 18 , further comprising a reinforcing layer positioned between the first intermediate wall portion and the first sealing wall portion, and wherein the reinforcing layer contacts at least one of the first sealing wall portion and the first intermediate wall portion.

21. The ship of claim 18 , wherein the first intermediate wall portion is not bonded to the first sealing wall portion.

22. The ship of claim 12 , further comprising an anchor interconnecting the hull and sealing wall.

23. The ship of claim 22 , wherein the hull comprises an interior hull and an exterior hull, and wherein the anchor comprises a first end attached to the sealing wall and a second end attached to the interior hull.

24. The ship of claim 12 , wherein the second surface is configured to slide relative to the sealing wall while in contact with the sealing wall.
