Abstract

Glutamate Transporter Associated Proteins and nucleotide encoding Glutamate Transporter Associated Proteins are provided. Also provided is a method for identifying a compound that modulates a cellular response mediated by a Glutamate Transporter Associated Protein. A method is further provided for identifying a compound that inhibits an interaction between a Glutamate Transporter Associated Protein and a glutamate transporter protein. A method is provided for treating a disorder associated with glutamate transport.

Claims (14)

1. An isolated polynucleotide selected from the group consisting of:

(a) a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:6;

(b) a polynucleotide of (a), wherein all T's are replaced by U's;

(c) a polynucleotide complementary to the full length polynucleotide of (a); and

(d) a polynucleotide having the nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:5.

2. An expression vector comprising a polynucleotide of claim 1 .

3. The expression vector of claim 2 , wherein the vector is virus-derived.

4. The expression vector of claim 2 , wherein the vector is plasmid-derived.

5. An isolated host cell comprising a vector of claim 2 .

6. A method for producing a polypeptide comprising the steps of:

(a) culturing a host cell of claim 5 under conditions suitable for the expression of the polypeptide; and

(b) recovering the polypeptide from the host cell culture.

7. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1 , wherein the polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:6.

8. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1 , wherein the polynucleotide has the nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:5.
