Abstract

Compounds having the active site of natural lipoxins, but a longer tissue half-life are disclosed. In particular, 15-epi-lipoxins and their use in ameliorating undesired cell proliferation, which characterizes diseases such as cancer, are also disclosed.

Claims (4)

1. A method of treating Vasocontriction comprising: administering to a subject a substantially purified 15-epi-lipoxin compound in which the absolute configuration at the 15 carbon is R is 15R-5,6,15-trihydroxy-7, 9, 13-trans-11-cis-eicsoatetraenoic acid and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the 15R-5,6,15-trihydroxy-7, 9, 13-trans-11-cis-eicsoatetranoic acid has a 5S, 6R configuration.

3. A method of treating vasoconstriction comprising: administering to a subject a substantially purified 15-epi-lipoxin compound in which the absolute configuration at the 15 carbon is R is 15 R-5,14,15-trihydroxy-6,10,12-trans-8-ciseicosatetraenoic acid and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the 15R-5,14,15-trihydroxy-6,10,12-trans-8-ciseicsoatetraenoic acid has a 5S, 14R configuration.
