Abstract

Compounds having the active site of natural lipoxins, but a longer tissue half-life are disclosed. In particular, 15-epi-lipoxins and their use in ameliorating undesired cell proliferation, which characterizes diseases such as cancer, are also disclosed.

Claims (4)

1. A method for treating a subject for restenosis resulting from abnormal cell growht comprising administering to said subject a composition comprising an effective amount of a lipoxin A4 compound and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters thereof, whereby restenosis is prevented, reduced, or inhibited treated.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the lipoxin A 4 compound is LXA 4 or 15-R/S-methyl, LXA 4 .

3. A method for treating a subject for restenosis resulting from abnormal cell growth comprising administering to said subject a composition comprising an effective amount of 15-epi-lipoxin A4 compound and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters thereof, whereby restenosis is prevented, reduced, or inhibited treated.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the 15-epi-lipoxin A 4 compound is 15-epi-16-(para-fluoro)-phenoxy-lipoxin A 4 .
