Isolated ligand of ChemerinR
The present invention relates to a G-protein coupled receptor and a novel ligand therefor. The invention provides screeing assays for the identification of candidate compounds which modulate the activity of the G-protein coupled receptor, as well as assays useful for the diagnosis and treatment of a disease or disorder related to the dysregulation of G-protein coupled receptor signaling.
1. An isolated polypeptide that specifically binds to a ChemerinR polypeptide, wherein the nine C-terminal amino acids of said isolated polypeptide are set forth in SEQ ID NO: 61.
2. An isolated polypeptide of claim 1 , wherein the amino acid sequence is the sequence of SEQ ID NO:53.
3. An isolated polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:14, wherein the polypeptide does not comprise the six amino acid C-terminal sequence KALPRS (SEQ ID NO: 82), and wherein the polypeptide binds specifically to a ChemerinR polypeptide.
4. The polypeptide in claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide is labeled with a moiety selected from the group consisting of a radioisotope, a fluorophore, a quencher of fluorescence, an enzyme, an affinity tag, and an epitope tag.
5. A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 1 , 2 , or 3 .
6. An isolated polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 61.
7. A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 6 .
