Flavone synthases, methods of using flavone synthases, and plants expressing flavone synthases
View Patent ↗A flavone synthase that synthesizes flavones from flavanones, vectors containing DNAs encoding said flavone synthases, and plants expressing same are disclosed. Methods of producing the protein which synthesizes flavones from flavanones, methods of altering the composition of flavonoids or the amount of flavonoids in a plant, methods of altering flower color and plant photosensitivity, and methods of controlling interactions between plants expressing the protein and microorganisms are also disclosed.
1. An isolated protein, wherein the protein possesses the activity of synthesizing flavones from flavanones and having an amino acid sequence modified by the addition, deletion or substitution of one amino acid of the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 8.
2. An isolated protein comprising SEQ ID NO: 8 that synthesizes flavones from flavones, and wherein said protein is a Perilla flavone synthase H.
3. The isolated protein of claim 2 consisting of SEQ ID NO: 8.
