Method and apparatus for humidification and warming of air
A method of humidifying a gas that includes supplying a gas to a surface of a humidification material that readily absorbs moisture and readily releases moisture when exposed to a dry environment and generating turbulence in the gas as it passes over the surface of the humidification material.
1. A gas apparatus for use in a medical procedure comprising:
a housing defining a chamber having a gas inlet and a gas outlet:
a heater for warming a gas flowing through the chamber;
a port in fluid communication with the chamber; and
a dispensing device inserted within the port for delivering a medicament in aerosol form to humidified gas as its exits the gas outlet.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of the dispensing device is positioned within a gas flow lumen between the chamber and the patient.
3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of the dispensing device is positioned within an interior of the gas apparatus.
4. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a heater within the chamber for heating gas within the chamber.
5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the dispensing device is a catheter.
6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the medical procedure is a laparoscopic procedure.
