Abstract
Compositions and methods for treating a patient with insulin that combines insulin, a permeation enhancer, and a carrier that maintains an acidic pH, are disclosed.
Claims (2)
1. A pharmaceutical composition in a form suitable for nasal delivery to a patient comprising about 1 wt. % insulin, 2 wt. % cyclopentadecanolide, 1% wt. cottenseed oil, 0.6 wt. % Sorbitan, 0.7 wt. % Polysorbate 20, 94.3 wt. % water and buffer amounts of 0.3 wt. % citric acid (monohydrate) and 0.1 wt. % sodium citrate (dihydrate) wherein the pharmaceutical composition has a pH of about 3.5.
2. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 further comprising a crystallization inhibitor.
