Use of IL-22 for the treatment of conditions of metabolic disorders
The use of IL-22 for the treatment of metabolic disorders including hyperlipidemia, obesity, hyperinsulinemia and diabetes. IL-22 may also be used in combination with insulin for diabetes.
1. A method of increasing insulin sensitivity of a mammal comprising administering to said mammal in need of such treatment a composition, said composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a polypeptide consisting essentially of IL-22.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide is recombinantly synthesized.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide consists essentially of human IL-22 or mouse IL-22.
4. A method of enhancing glucose utilization in a mammal comprising administering to a subject in need of treatment a composition, said composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a polypeptide consisting essentially of IL-22.
5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the polypeptide is recombinantly synthesized.
6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the polypeptide consists essentially of human LL-22 or mouse IL-22.
