Abstract

A method includes receiving, from a user, publication data to be published and location data identifying a storage location at which an image to be associated with the publication data is stored. The image to be included in the publication data is retrieved from the storage location identified by the location data. A reduced-size image using the retrieved image is generated and the reduced-size image is aggregated with further reduced-size images for presentation at a remote site.

The method of claim 1 , wherein producing a first thumbnail image from the first image includes producing a first thumbnail image in a predetermined size and format, and producing a second thumbnail image from the second image includes producing a second thumbnail image in a predetermined size and format.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the first thumbnail image has the same size and format as the second thumbnail image.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first image location references the first computer and the second image location references the second computer.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

presenting a first registration web page to the first computer over the network, wherein the first registration web page solicits information relating to the first product description and the first image location of the first product; and

presenting a second registration web page to the second computer over the network, wherein the second registration web page solicits information relating to the second product description and the second image location of the second product.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting a web page to a third computer that includes the first and second thumbnail images includes creating a customized web page that includes the first and second thumbnail images.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the customized web page further includes the first and second product descriptions.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first image location references a directory path on the first computer and the second image location references a directory path on the second computer.

using one or more processors to execute instructions retained in machine-readable media to perform at least some portion of the following steps

receiving a first registration for a first product from a first computer over the network, the first registration including a first product description and a first image location of the first product, the first image location referencing a first storage computer on the network;

receiving a second registration for a second product from a second computer over the network, the second registration including a second product description and a second image location of the second product, the second image location referencing a second storage computer on the network;

retrieving the first image from the first storage computer based on the first image location;

producing a first thumbnail image from the first image;

retrieving the second image from second first storage computer based on the second image location;

producing a second thumbnail image from the second image; and

presenting a web page to a buyer computer that includes the first and second thumbnail images.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first image location references the first computer and the second image location references the second computer.
