Fluid flow controller
A fluid pathway is provided with a flow controller in at least a portion of its length wherein the flow controller comprises an active surface capable of influencing the fluid flow through the fluid pathway, the configuration of the active surface conforming to at least one logarithmic curve conforming to the Golden Section.
1. A duct for redirecting a fluid, the duct comprising:
an inlet section;
an outlet section, with a right angular change in direction from the inlet, with a centerline that does not intersect a centerline of the inlet section; and
a transition section in fluid communication between the inlet and outlet sections, the transition section having a centerline that does not intersect the centerline of the inlet section or a centerline of the outlet section and a spiraled active surface, the active surface configured in accordance with the Golden Section.
2. A duct comprising:
an inlet section;
an outlet section, with a right angular change in direction from the inlet, with a centerline that does not intersect a centerline of the inlet section; and
a transition section in fluid communication between the inlet and outlet sections and that includes a spiraled surface corresponding to a logarithmic curve, wherein the radius of the logarithmic curve measured at equiangular radii unfolds at a constant order of growth, and wherein a centerline of the transition section does not intersect the centerline of the outlet.
3. A duct comprising:
an inlet section;
an outlet section, with a right angular change in direction from the inlet, with a centerline that does not intersect a centerline of the inlet section; and
a transition section in fluid communication between the inlet and outlet sections and that includes a spiraled surface, wherein at least a portion of the spiraled surface corresponds to the Golden Section, and wherein a centerline of the transition section does not intersect the centerline of the outlet.
4. A duct comprising:
an inlet section;
an outlet section, with a right angular change in direction from the inlet, with a centerline that does not intersect a centerline of the inlet section; and
a transition section in fluid communication between the inlet and outlet sections, the interior of the transition section including a spiraled surface that corresponds at least in part to the Golden Section, and wherein a centerline of the transition section does not intersect the centerline of the outlet.
5. The duct of claim 4 , wherein the spiraled surface comes into physical contact with a fluid traversing the transition section from the inlet section, the spiraled surface influencing a flow characteristic of the fluid.
6. The duct of claim 5 , wherein the flow characteristic of the fluid as the fluid exits the outlet section differs from the flow characteristic of the fluid when the fluid enters the inlet section.
