Abstract

Systems and methods for providing a thermoplastic product that includes packaging therefor. Implementation of the present invention takes place in association with packaging of one or more ingredients of a thermoplastic product, wherein the packaging is used to contain the ingredients during storage and/or transportation, and wherein at least a portion of the packaging itself is an ingredient for inclusion into the thermoplastic product. In some implementations, the entire packaging is incorporated into the thermoplastic product for utilization thereof.

Claims (55)

1. A method for providing a sealant product for use, the method comprising:

providing a non-asphalt thermoplastic container that is configured to receive a volume of one or more ingredients for inclusion into a sealant product, the thermoplastic container comprising an expanded polymer;

providing said volume of said one or more ingredients into said non-asphalt thermoplastic container;

mixing at least a portion of said non-asphalt thermoplastic container and said volume of ingredients to produce a volume of said sealant product; and

using said sealant product.

2. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said mixing said non-asphalt thermoplastic container and said volume of ingredients to produce a volume of said sealant product includes a step of heating said non-asphalt thermoplastic container and said volume of ingredients to produce said volume of said sealant product.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said one or more ingredients comprises a homogeneous material.

4. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said one or more ingredients comprises a heterogeneous material.

5. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said providing said volume comprises pumping said volume into said non-asphalt thermoplastic container.

6. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said providing said volume comprises pouring said volume into said non-asphalt thermoplastic container.

7. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said non-asphalt thermoplastic container is a durable container.

8. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the non-asphalt thermoplastic container is weight-bearing.

9. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the non-asphalt thermoplastic container comprises a ventable lid.

10. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said non-asphalt thermoplastic container is a measured ingredient for inclusion into said sealant product.

11. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein all of said non-asphalt thermoplastic container is mixed to produce said volume of said sealant product.

12. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said non-asphalt thermoplastic container is configured to be interlocked with another container.

13. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said mixing at least a portion of said non-asphalt thermoplastic container and said volume comprises heating said mixture to a temperature within the range of about 250° F. to 450° F.

14. A method for providing a thermoplastic product for use, the method comprising:

providing a non-asphalt thermoplastic container comprising an expanded polymer material, the container being configured to receive a volume of at least one ingredient for inclusion into a thermoplastic product;

providing the volume of the at least one ingredient into the non-asphalt thermoplastic container; and

mixing at least a portion of the non-asphalt thermoplastic container and the volume of the at least one ingredient to produce a volume of the thermoplastic product.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the thermoplastic product is selected from the group consisting of:

i) a sealant;

ii) a colored sealant;

iii) an asphalt;

iv) a modified asphalt;

v) a crack sealant;

vi) a joint sealant;

vii) a waterproofing membrane;

viii) a roofing asphalt;

ix) an asphalt cement;

x) a hot melt adhesive;

xi) a pothole patching product;

xii) a pavement marker adhesive;

xiii) a bridge deck membrane;

xiv) a bridge expansion joint sealant;

xv) a traffic loop detector sealant;

xvi) a concrete spall repair product;

xvii) a hot applied rubberized chip seal binder;

xviii) a chip seal binder additive;

xix) a polymer roofing asphalt;

xx) a blown roofing asphalt;

xxi) a planter box membrane;

xxii) a rolled roofing seam adhesive;

xxiii) a gasket;

xxiv) a thermoplastic paint;

xxv) an extruded rubber product;

xxvi) a pre-weighed polymer; and

xxvii) a vertical surface adhesive.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the expanded polymer material comprises polystyrene.

17. A method for providing an asphalt product for use, the method comprising:

providing a non-asphalt thermoplastic container that is configured to receive a volume of at least one ingredient for inclusion into an asphalt product, the non-asphalt thermoplastic container further comprising an expanded polymer material;

providing the volume of the at least one ingredient into the non-asphalt thermoplastic container; and

mixing at least a portion of the non-asphalt thermoplastic container and the volume of the at least one ingredient to produce a volume of the asphalt product.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the expanded polymer material is polystyrene.
