Abstract

A health monitoring system includes a plurality of remote user sites, each remote user site comprising at least one health monitoring device for collection of user health monitoring data, an interactive video device, and a user interface apparatus; at least one remote computing facility configured for signal communication with, and to receive health monitoring data-related signals from, the plurality of remote user sites; and at least one computer, configured for signal communication with the remote computing facility, wherein the interactive video device is interactively coupled with the remote computing facility. Associated methods are also described.

Claims (32)

1. A method for communicating with a plurality of individuals at a plurality of remote locations, comprising the steps of:

(A) storing information for one or more of said plurality of individuals in a server, wherein said information comprises (i) data from at least one of (a) a patient and (b) a healthcare provider and (ii) at least one of (a) an identifier indicating a source of said data and (b) an identifier indicating those having access to said data;

(B) establishing communication between said server and a device, wherein (i) said device is associated with a particular individual of said plurality of individuals and (ii) said device is remotely located from said server;

(C) identifying a particular element of said information corresponding to said particular individual; and

(D) transmitting said particular element from said server to said device, wherein said particular element comprises at least one of (i) an educational message and (ii) a motivational message.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said particular element further comprises a dosage change for said particular individual.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said particular element further comprises a monitoring schedule change for said particular individual.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said particular element further comprises new software to update old software executing in said device.

5. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of:

transmitting a status from said server to another individual of said plurality of individuals, wherein said status indicates that said particular element has been transmitted to said particular individual.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said particular element further comprises one or more instructions to reconfigure said device.

7. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of:

displaying said at least one of (i) said educational message and (ii) said motivational message to said particular individual on a display unit of said device.

8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said particular element is related to a health of said particular individual.

9. A method for communicating with a plurality of individuals at a plurality of remote locations, comprising the steps of:

(A) storing information for one or more of said plurality of individuals in a server, wherein said information comprises (i) data from at least one of (a) a patient and (b) a healthcare provider and (ii) at least one of (a) an identifier indicating a source of said data and (b) an identifier indicating those having access to said data;

(B) waiting for a device to establish communication with said server, wherein (i) said device is associated with a particular individual of said plurality of individuals and (ii) said device is remotely located from said server;

(C) identifying a particular element of said information corresponding to said particular individual; and

(D) transmitting said particular element from said server to said device, wherein said particular element comprises at least one of (i) an educational message and (ii) a motivational message.

10. The method according to claim 9 , further comprising the steps of:

receiving data from said device at said server.

11. The method according to claim 10 , further comprising the step of:

transmitting a response to said data from said server to said device.

12. The method according to claim 9 , further comprising the step of:

transmitting one or more instructions from said server to said device.

13. The method according to claim 9 , wherein said particular element is related to a health of said particular individual.

14. A server comprising:

a memory configured to store information for one or more of a plurality of individuals, wherein said information comprises (i) data from at least one of (a) a patient and (b) a healthcare provider and (ii) at least one of (a) an identifier indicating a source of said data and (b) an identifier indicating those having access to said data;

a processor configured to (i) establish communication with a device, (ii) identify a particular element of said information corresponding to a particular individual of said plurality of individuals and (iii) transmit said particular element to said device, wherein (a) said device is associated with said particular individual, (b) said device is remotely located from said processor and (c) said particular element comprises at least one of (i) an educational message and (ii) a motivational message.

15. The server according to claim 14 , wherein said particular element further comprises at least one of (i) a dosage change and (ii) a monitoring schedule change for said particular individual.

16. The server according to claim 14 , wherein said processor is further configured to transmit a status to another individual of said plurality of individuals, wherein said status indicates that said particular element has been transmitted to said particular individual.

17. The server according to claim 14 , wherein said particular element is related to a health of said particular individual.
