Abstract

A system and method of providing data to a mashup application may involve receiving a request from a mashup application and supplying first data to the mashup application in response to the request. Mashup information can be received from the mashup application, wherein the mashup information indicates an inclusion of the first data with second data in the execution of the mashup application. The mashup information may be stored and analyzed to identify relationships between previously unrelated data.

Claims (22)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving a request transmission from a mashup application;

supplying first data to the mashup application in response to the request transmission;

receiving a mashup information transmission from the mashup application, the mashup information transmission being separate from the request transmission and indicating an inclusion of the first data with second data in an execution of the mashup application as a single, integrated application within a browser, wherein receiving the mashup information transmission includes receiving mashup usage frequency information and receiving an indication of a level of interaction between the first data and the second data in the mashup application;

weighting the mashup information based on at least one of the level of interaction and the mashup usage frequency information; and

storing the mashup information, wherein the mashup usage frequency tracks how many times the mashup application has been executed, and the level of interaction between the first data and the second data indicates a degree to which the first data leads to activity with regard to the second data.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing the mashup information includes storing the mashup information as an entry to a tracking database.

3. The method of claim 2 , further including identifying a relationship between the first data and third data based on the entry.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the third data includes data from a local data source.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the third data includes data from a remote data source.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second data includes data from a remote source.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first data includes at least one of a feed, text, audio, video and multimedia content.

8. A computer program product comprising:

a computer readable medium; and

computer usable code stored on the computer readable medium, where, if executed by a processor, the computer usable code causes a computer to:

receive a request transmission from a mashup application;

supply first data to the mashup application in response to the request transmission;

receive a mashup information transmission from the mashup application, the mashup information transmission to be separate from the request transmission and indicate an inclusion of the first data with second data in an execution of the mashup application as a single, integrated application within a browser, wherein the mashup information transmission includes mashup usage frequency information and an indication of a level of interaction between the first data and the second data in the mashup application;

weight the mashup information based on at least one of the level of interaction and the mashup usage frequency information; and

store the mashup information, wherein the mashup usage frequency tracks how many times the mashup application has been executed, and the level of interaction between the first data and the second data indicates a degree to which the first data leads to activity with regard to the second data.

9. The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the computer usable code, if executed, causes a computer to store the mashup information as an entry to a tracking database.

10. The computer program product of claim 9 , wherein the computer usable code, if executed, further causes a computer to identify a relationship between the first data and third data based on the entry.
