Abstract

Polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies which are specific for a mammalian sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform protein and methods for detecting the presence of sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform using the antibodies.

Claims (28)

1. An isolated antibody that specifically binds to a mammalian sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform protein, said protein consisting essentially of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14.

2. The isolated antibody according to claim 1 , wherein the antibody is a polyclonal antibody.

3. The isolated antibody according to claim 1 , wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

4. The isolated antibody according to claim 1 , which is obtained by immunization of a mouse with a portein consisting essentially of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14.

5. A method for detecting for the presence of comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 1 , and

(ii) detecting for the presence of a complex formed Between the sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody.

6. A method for detecting for the presence of comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 2 , and

(ii) detecting for the presence of a complex formed between the sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody.

7. A method for detecting for the presence of comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 3 , and

(ii) detecting for the presence of a complex formed Between the sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody.

8. A method for detecting for the presence of comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 4 , and

(ii) detecting for the presence of a complex formed between the sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody.

9. A quantitative method for determining the amount of a sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 1 , and

(ii) determining the amount of a complex formed between The sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody, thereby determining the amount of sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform in said sample.

10. A quantitative method for determining the amount of a sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 2 , and

(ii) determining the amount of a complex formed between The sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody, thereby determining the amount of sphinogoxine kinase type 2 isoform in said sample.

11. A quantitative method for determining the amount of a sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 3 , and

(ii) determining the amount of a complex formed between The sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody, thereby determining the amount of sphingosine kinase type 2 in said sample.

12. A quantitative method for determining the amount of a sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 in a sample comprising:

(i) contacting the sample with an antibody according to claim 4 , and

(ii) determining the amount of a complex formed between the sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform and said antibody, thereby determining the amount of sphingosine kinase type 2 isoform in said sample.
