Abstract

The invention relates to immunogenic compositions. In certain embodiments, the invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising an antigen, an immunostimulating substance selected form neuroactive compounds, hormones, compounds having a growth hormone activity, and mixtures thereof, and a polycationic polymer.

Claims (16)

1. An immunogenic composition comprising an isolated HCV antigen consisting of SEQ ID NO: 1 and a polycationic compound.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the polycationic compound is a basic polypeptide, an organic polycation, a basic polyaminoacid or a mixture of such compounds.

3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the polycationic compound comprises polyarginine, polylysine, a polypeptide of more than 8 amino acids containing more than 50% basic amino acid residues, or a mixture of such compounds.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the polycationic compound comprises a polypeptide of more than 20 amino acids containing more than 50% basic amino acid residues.

5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the polycationic compound is polyarginine.

6. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising an additional immunostimulating compound.

7. The composition of claim 6 , wherein the additional immunostimulating compound is selected from the group consisting of growth hormones, human growth hormones, neurokinin A, vasoactive intestinal peptide, neuropeptide Y, substance P, thyrotrophin (TSH), insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-1), prolactin, lactogen, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), thymosin, thymulin, kentsin, melatonin, semaphorins, and a mixture of such compounds.

8. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising a stabilizer.

9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is in liquid form.

10. A method of inducing an immune response against HCV in a subject comprising administering to the subject the composition of claim 1 .

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the composition is administered via a route selected from the group consisting of subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, transdermal injection, and oral uptake.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the composition is administered to a subject at weekly, bi-weekly or monthly intervals.

13. A method of inducing an immune response against HCV in a subject comprising administering to the subject the composition of claim 1 and an additional immunostimulating compound, wherein the additional immunostimulating compound is administered separately from the composition of claim 1 .

14. A kit comprising:

a component comprising the composition of claim 1 ; and

a component comprising an additional immunostimulating compound.
