Floorboards for floorings
Floorboards for making a floating floor have a core ( 30 ) which comprises at least two layers of material (L 1 , L 2 ), which are arranged at different distances from the surface layer ( 31 ), and which differ in respect of material properties or material composition. Semi manufactures for making such floorboards are also disclosed.
1. A method to provide a floor with tight joints and improved sound absorption wherein the floor comprises floorboards for use in a floating floor system that are connectable with a mechanical locking system locking the floorboards vertically and horizontally, the method comprising the steps of:
connecting the floorboards with the mechanical locking system; and
gluing the floorboards to a sub floor with a flexible glue that allows some movement between the sub floor and the floorboard such that a semi floating floor is accomplished;
wherein said connecting step includes connecting the floorboard with the substantially similar floorboard by inward angling and/or snapping-in to a locked position, inward angling being where a first edge of a first floorboard is pressed against an upper part of a second edge of a second floorboard and the first floorboard is angled down with an angular motion from either above or below,
wherein the connecting step further includes mechanically vertically locking both the first and second edges of a floorboard against upward movement and mechanically horizontally locking the first and second edges together via a locking strip protruding horizontally from a lower part of the second edge and horizontally beyond the upper part of the second edge, so that the underside of the locking strip is parallel to the sub floor in a fully locked position.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the floorboards have a surface layer of laminate.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the floorboards have a surface layer of wood.
4. The method as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the top layer of the laminate is a wood layer.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the floorboards each have four sides and are mechanically lockable both vertically and horizontally along two sides of each floorboard.
6. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the floorboards each have four sides and are mechanically lockable both vertically and horizontally along all four sides of each floorboard.
7. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the floorboards include a core having more than one layer.
8. A method to provide a floor with tight joints and improved sound absorption wherein the floor comprises floorboards for use in a floating floor system that are connectable with a mechanical locking system locking the floorboards vertically and horizontally, the method comprising the steps of:
connecting the floorboards with the mechanical locking system, wherein the connecting further includes mechanically vertically locking both the first and second edges of a floorboard against upward movement and mechanically horizontally locking the first and second edges together via a locking strip protruding horizontally from a lower part of the second edge and horizontally beyond an upper part of the second edge, so that the underside of the locking strip is parallel to the sub floor in a fully locked position; and
gluing the floorboards to a sub floor with a flexible glue that allows some movement between the sub floor and the floorboards such that a semi floating floor is accomplished;
whereby the mechanical locking system allows positioning of the floorboards and keeping the floorboards together in the floating floor system at least until the flexible glue cures and the flexible glue provides an improved sound absorption.
9. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards have a surface layer of laminate.
10. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards have a surface layer of wood.
11. The method as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the top layer of the laminate is a wood layer.
12. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards each have four sides and are mechanically lockable both vertically and horizontally along two sides of each floorboard.
13. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards each have four sides and are mechanically lockable both vertically and horizontally along all four sides of each floorboard.
14. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards include a core having more than one layer.
15. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the mechanical locking system allows positioning of the floorboards and keeping the floorboards together in the floating floor system at least until the flexible glue cures and the flexible glue provides an improved sound absorption.
16. The method as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the floorboards have a core that comprises two layers, thereby reducing further the sound level.
17. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the mechanical locking system connects the floorboard with a substantially similar floorboard by inward angling and/or snapping-in to a locked position, inward angling being where a first edge of a second floorboard and the first floorboard is angled down with an angular motion from either above or below.
18. The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the floorboards have a core that comprises of two layers reducing further the sound level.
