Abstract

Histone deacetylases inhibitors (HDACIs) and compositions containing the same are disclosed. Methods of treating diseases and conditions wherein inhibition of HDAC provides a benefit, like a cancer, a neurodegenerative disorder, a neurological disease, traumatic brain injury, stroke, malaria, an autoimmune disease, autism, and inflammation, also are disclosed.

Claims (11)

1. A compound having the structural formula

wherein R a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C 1-3 alkyl, —CH 2 CH═CH 2 , Boc, —C(═O)CH 3 , —C(═O)NH 2 ,

optionally substituted with —OCH 3 ;

R 0 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl, —OCH 3 , halo, and

and

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. The compound of claim 1 wherein R a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, —CH 3 , —CH 2 CH 3 , —CH(CH 3 ) 2 , —C(═O)CH 3 , —CH 2 CH═CH 2 , -Boc,

3. The compound of claim 1 wherein R 0 is selected from the group consisting of —CH 3 , —C(CH 3 ) 3 , —Cl, —Br, —OCH 3 , and
