Abstract

A multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT determines whether the first and second RATs are in an active state. When the wireless communication terminal is simultaneously transmitting on the first and second RATs, UCI is transmitted on a PUSCH using the first RAT if there is a scheduled PUSCH transmission or an uplink scheduling grant indicating a periodic CSI report, wherein the UCI would otherwise be transmitted on a PUCCH when the terminal is not transmitting using the first and second RATs simultaneously and there is a scheduled PUSCH on the first RAT.

Claims (28)

1. A method in a multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (“RAT”) and that communicates using a second RAT, the method comprising:

determining whether the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state;

when the wireless communication terminal is transmitting on the first RAT and the second RAT concurrently, transmitting uplink control information (“UCI”) on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (“PUSCH”) on the first RAT if there is a scheduled PUSCH transmission,

wherein the UCI would otherwise be transmitted on a Physical Uplink Control Channel (“PUCCH”) when the wireless communication terminal is not transmitting using the second RAT while transmitting on the first RAT and there is a scheduled PUSCH on the first RAT;

transmitting UCI on the PUSCH only when an allocation for the PUSCH for the UCI transmission does not overlap desense resource blocks on the first RAT.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising transmitting an indication that the first RAT and the second RAT are concurrently active.

3. The method of claim 2 transmitting an indication includes transmitting a bit field indicating that the first RAT and the second RAT are concurrently active.

4. A method in a multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (“RAT”) and a second RAT, the method comprising:

determining whether the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state;

when both the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state and the second RAT is conducting a voice call in the active state, then not transmitting uplink control information (“UCI”) over the first RAT in the absence of scheduled Physical Uplink Shared Channel (“PUSCH”) transmission,

wherein the UCI is transmitted over a scheduled PUSCH when the first RAT and the second RAT are active simultaneously;

transmitting UCI on the scheduled PUSCH transmission only when the PUSCH resource allocation for the transmission does not overlap desense resource blocks.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising transmitting an indication to a network supporting the first RAT that both the first RAT and the second RAT are active.

6. A multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (“RAT”) and that communicates using a second RAT, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver;

a controller coupled to the transceiver, the controller configured to determine whether the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state;

when the wireless communication terminal is transmitting on the first RAT and the second RAT concurrently, the wireless communication terminal configured to transmit uplink control information (“UCI”) on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (“PUSCH”) on the first RAT if there is a scheduled PUSCH transmission,

wherein the UCI would otherwise be transmitted on a Physical Uplink Control Channel (“PUCCH”) when the wireless communication terminal is not transmitting using the second RAT while transmitting on the first RAT and there is a scheduled PUSCH on the first RAT;

wherein the terminal is configured to transmit UCI on the PUSCH only when an allocation for the PUSCH for the UCI transmission does not overlap desense resource blocks on the first RAT.

7. The terminal of claim 6 configured to transmit an indication that the first RAT and the second RAT are concurrently active.

8. The terminal of claim 7 configured to transmit the indication by transmitting a bit field indicating that the first RAT and the second RAT are concurrently active.

9. A multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (“RAT”) and a second RAT, the terminal comprising:

a transceiver;

a controller coupled to the transceiver, the controller configured to determine whether the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state;

when both the first RAT and the second RAT are in an active state and the second RAT is conducting a voice call in the active state, the wireless communication terminal configured to not transmit uplink control information (“UCI”) over the first RAT in the absence of scheduled Physical Uplink Shared Channel (“PUSCH”) transmission,

wherein the UCI is transmitted over a scheduled PUSCH when the first RAT and the second RAT are active simultaneously;

wherein the terminal is configured to transmit UCI on the scheduled PUSCH transmission only when the PUSCH resource allocation for the transmission does not overlap desense resource blocks.

10. The terminal of claim 9 configured to transmit an indication to a network supporting the first RAT that both the first RAT and the second RAT are active.
