Abstract

Methods and apparatus for analyte level estimation are provided for filtering received analyte measurement data based on one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile, wherein filtering includes applying a rate variance filter to the analyte measurement data.

Claims (31)

1. A computer implemented method, comprising:

receiving one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile;

receiving a monitored analyte measurement data; and

filtering, using one or more processors, the received monitored analyte measurement data based on the one or more parameters associated with the medication delivery profile, wherein filtering includes applying a rate variance filter to the monitored analyte measurement data;

wherein the parameters associated with the medication delivery profile includes a medication infusion rate, wherein when the medication infusion rate exceeds a predetermined threshold level, adjusting the rate variance filter from a predetermined setting to a modified setting to be more responsive to changes in the monitored analyte measurement data after a first predetermined time period lapses, wherein the first predetermined time period is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

2. The method of claim 1 including receiving one or more external parameters, and further including determining a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the received one or more external parameters.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the one or more external parameters includes one or more of a calorie intake amount, a level of physical exertion, or carbohydrate amount.

4. The method of claim 1 further including adjusting the rate variance filter to the predetermined setting after a second predetermined time period lapses, wherein the second predetermined time period is greater than the first predetermined time period, wherein the second predetermined time is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

5. The method of claim 1 further including determining a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the filtering of one or more of the received one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile or the received monitored analyte measurement data.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the monitored analyte measurement data is obtained from an analyte sensor comprising a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode, wherein the working electrode comprises an analyte-responsive enzyme and a mediator, and wherein at least one of the analyte-responsive enzyme and the mediator is chemically bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein at least one of the analyte-responsive enzyme and the mediator is crosslinked with the polymer.

8. An apparatus, comprising:

one or more processing units; and

a memory for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processing units, causes the one or more processing units to receive one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile, to receive monitored analyte measurement data, and to filter the received monitored analyte measurement data based on the one or more parameters associated with the medication delivery profile, wherein filtering includes applying a rate variance filter to the measured monitored analyte measurement data, wherein the parameters associated with the medication delivery profile includes a medication infusion rate, wherein when the medication infusion rate exceeds a predetermined threshold level, the rate variance filter is adjusted from a predetermined setting to a modified setting to be more responsive to changes in the monitored analyte measurement data after a first predetermined time period lapses, wherein the first predetermined time is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the memory for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processing units, causes the one or more processing units to receive one or more external parameters, and to determine a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the received one or more external parameters.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein the one or more external parameters includes one or more of a calorie intake amount, a level of physical exertion, or carbohydrate amount.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the rate variance filter is adjusted to the predetermined setting after a second predetermined time period lapses, wherein the second predetermined time period is greater than the first predetermined time period, wherein the second predetermined time is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the memory for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processing units, causes the one or more processing units to determine a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the filtering of one or more of the received one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile or the received monitored analyte measurement data.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein the monitored analyte measurement data is obtained from an analyte sensor comprising a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode, wherein the working electrode comprises an analyte-responsive enzyme and a mediator, and wherein at least one of the analyte-responsive enzyme and the mediator is chemically bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein at least one of the analyte-responsive enzyme and the mediator is crosslinked with the polymer.

15. A computer implemented method, comprising:

receiving one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile;

receiving a monitored analyte measurement data;

updating the received monitored analyte measurement data based at least in part on the received one or more parameters associated with the medication delivery profile; and

filtering, using one or more processors, the received monitored analyte measurement data based on the one or more parameters associated with the medication delivery profile, wherein filtering includes applying a rate variance filter to the monitored analyte measurement data;

wherein the parameters associated with the medication delivery profile includes a medication infusion rate, wherein when the medication infusion rate exceeds a predetermined threshold level, adjusting the rate variance filter from a predetermined setting to a modified setting to be more responsive to changes in the monitored analyte measurement data after a first predetermined time period lapses, wherein the first predetermined time period is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

16. The method of claim 15 further including adjusting the rate variance filter back to the predetermined setting after a second predetermined time period lapses, wherein the second predetermined time period is greater than the first predetermined time period, wherein the second predetermined time is measured from the time the medication infusion rate exceeds the predetermined threshold level.

17. The method of claim 15 further including receiving one or more external parameters, and further including determining a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the received one or more external parameters.

18. The method of claim 15 further including determining a predicted analyte level estimate based at least in part on the filtering of one or more of the received one or more parameters associated with a medication delivery profile or the received monitored analyte measurement data.

19. The method of claim 15 wherein the monitored analyte measurement data is obtained from an analyte sensor comprising a plurality of electrodes including a working electrode, wherein the working electrode comprises an analyte-responsive enzyme and a mediator, and wherein at least one of the analyte-responsive enzyme and the mediator is chemically bonded to a polymer disposed on the working electrode.
