Abstract

A device for controlling movement of a rope has a main part and a bar part. The main part has first and second side members and first and second end members. The bar part defines an opening, and the first side member extends through the opening. The bar part is displaced to allow a portion of the rope to be arranged within the central opening and at least partly around the bar part. The bar part is displaced such that the main part and the bar part define first and second opening portions of the central opening and the portion of the rope extends through the first and second opening portions and at least partly around the bar part.

Claims (18)

1. A device for controlling movement of a rope comprising:

a main part comprising

a, second side member defining third and fourth threaded portions,

a first end member defining fifth and sixth threaded portions, and

a second end member defining seventh and eighth threaded portions; and

a bar part defining a bar part opening; wherein

the first side member extends through the bar part opening such that the bar part pivots relative to the first side member between a first position in which the bar part is not in contact the second side member and a second position in which the bar is in contact with the second side member;

the first threaded portion engages the fifth threaded portion, the second threaded portion engages the seventh threaded portion, the third threaded portion engages the sixth threaded portion, and the fourth threaded portion engages the eighth threaded portion such that the main part defines

a central opening,

first and second side portions,

first and second end portions,

at least one projection portion extending from each end portion, and

a friction surface at junctures of each end portion and the at least one projection portion adjacent thereto; and

the bar part is arranged in the first position to allow a portion of the rope to be arranged within the central opening and at least partly around the bar part; and

the bar part is arranged in a second position such that

the main part and the bar part define first and second opening portions of the central opening, and
