Abstract

An optical component adapted for using in a backlight module providing light sources to a display apparatus is provided in the present disclosure. The optical component includes a first optical layer comprising a plurality of first blind holes extending downward from an upper surface to a first predetermined depth of the optical component, and a second optical layer comprising a plurality of second blind holes extending upward from a lower surface to a second predetermined depth of the optical component. A backlight module and a display apparatus are also provided.

Claims (35)

1. An optical component adapted for using in a backlight module providing light sources to a display apparatus, the optical component comprising:

a first optical layer comprising a plurality of first blind holes extending downward from an upper surface to a first predetermined depth of the optical component; and

a second optical layer comprising a plurality of second blind holes extending upward from a lower surface to a second predetermined depth of the optical component; wherein

an aspect ratio H/D of the first blind hole is approximately in a range from 0.4 to 1.4, H and D respectively represent a depth and a diameter of the first blind holes.

2. The optical component of claim 1 , wherein the first predetermined depth and the second predetermined depth are both half of a thickness of the optical component.

3. The optical component of claim 1 , wherein the first blind holes and the second blind holes are staggered with each other.

4. The optical component of claim 1 , further comprising a third optical layer comprising a plurality of micro-structures therein between the first and second optical layers.

5. The optical component of claim 4 , wherein each of the first blind holes corresponds to a respective second blind hole, and the first blind hole is aligned with the corresponding second blind hole.

6. The optical component of claim 4 , wherein the micro-structures comprises micro-lens or beads.

7. The optical component of claim 1 , further comprising a third optical layer comprising third blind holes therein between the first and second optical layers, and the first blind holes and the third blind holes are staggered with each other, and the second blind holes and the third blind holes are staggered with each other.

8. The optical component of claim 1 , wherein a size of the first blind hole is substantially the same as that of the second blind hole.

9. The optical component of claim 1 , wherein a duty cycle D/P of the first blind holes is approximately in a range from 0.2 to 0.8, D and P respectively represents a diameter of the first blind holes and a distance between centers of two adjacent first blind holes.

10. A backlight module, comprising:

a light guide plate comprising at least one light incident surface and a light emitting surface;

at least one light source adjacent to the at least one light incident surface of the light guide plate; and

an optical component comprises a first optical layer and a second optical layer;

wherein the first optical layer comprises a plurality of first blind holes extending downward from an upper surface to a first predetermined depth of the optical component, and the second optical layer comprises a plurality of second blind holes extending upward from a lower surface to a second predetermined depth of the optical component; and

a duty cycle D/P of the first blind holes is approximately in a range from 0.2 to 0.8, D and P respectively represents a diameter of the first blind holes and a distance between centers of two adjacent first blind holes.

11. The backlight module of claim 10 , further comprising one or more films of the following: a diffuser, a brightness enhance film or a prism sheet disposed on the optical sheet.

12. The backlight module of claim 10 , wherein the first and second predetermined depths are both half of a thickness of the optical component.

13. The backlight module of claim 10 , wherein the first blind holes and the second blind holes are staggered with each other.

14. The backlight module of claim 10 , further comprising a third optical layer comprising a plurality of micro-structures therein between the first and second optical layers.

15. The backlight module of claim 14 , wherein each of the first blind holes corresponds to a respective second blind hole, and the first blind hole is aligned with the corresponding second blind hole.

16. The backlight module of claim 14 , further comprising a third optical layer comprising third blind holes therein between the first and second optical layers, and the first blind holes and the third blind holes are staggered with each other, and the second blind holes and the third blind holes are staggered with each other.

17. The backlight module of claim 10 , wherein a size of the first blind hole is substantially the same as that of the second blind hole.

18. The backlight module of claim 10 , wherein an aspect ratio H/D of the first blind hole is approximately in a range from 0.4 to 1.4, H and D respectively represent a depth and a diameter of the first blind holes.

19. A display apparatus, comprising:

a display panel configured to display images; and

a backlight module configured to provide illumination for the display panel, the backlight module comprising:

a light guide plate comprising at least one light incident surface and a light emitting surface;

at least one light source adjacent to the at least one light incident surface of the light guide plate; and

an optical component adjacent to the light emitting surface of the light guide plate, the optical component comprises a first optical layer and a second optical layer;

wherein the first optical layer comprises a plurality of first blind holes extending downward from an upper surface to a first predetermined depth of the optical component, and the second optical layer comprises a plurality of second blind holes extending upward from a lower surface to a second predetermined depth of the optical component; and
