Abstract

The present invention relates to zcytor17lig polynucleotide, polypeptide and anti-zcytor17 antibody molecules. The zcytor17lig is a novel cytokine. The polypeptides may be used within methods for stimulating the immune system, and proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic cells in vitro and in vivo. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefor and antibodies thereto.

Claims (14)

1. A method of treating an inflammatory disease in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutically effective amount of an isolated monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds a polypeptide consisting of amino acid residues 27-164 of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the inflammatory disease is atopic dermatitis.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is humanized.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is human.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof reduces the binding of the polypeptide to its receptor.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof reduces the signal transduction in the cell expressing the receptor.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antigen-binding fragment is a F(ab′) 2 , Fab or a single chain Fv.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof further comprises a radionuclide, enzyme, substrate, cofactor, fluorescent marker, chemiluminescent marker, peptide tag, magnetic particle, drug, or toxin.

A method of treating an inflammatory disease in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising an isolated monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds a polypeptide consisting of amino acid residues 27-164 of SEQ ID NO:2, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the inflammatory disease is atopic dermatitis.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is humanized.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is human.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof reduces the binding of the polypeptide to its receptor.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof reduces the signal transduction in the cell expressing the receptor.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein the antigen-binding fragment is a F(ab′) 2 , Fab or a single chain Fv.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof further comprises a radionuclide, enzyme, substrate, cofactor, fluorescent marker, chemiluminescent marker, peptide tag, magnetic particle, drug, or toxin.
