Abstract

A pitching mound includes a level area, a sloped area, and surrounding areas. The level area includes a replaceable drive area. The sloped area has a slope from a first end of the sloped area that abuts to the level area to a second end of the sloped area. The sloped area includes a replaceable landing area. The surrounding areas encircle the level area and the sloped area.

Claims (49)

1. A pitching mound comprises:

a replaceable drive tray;

a level area including a replaceable drive area for at least partially receiving the replaceable drive tray, wherein a pitching rubber is located within the replaceable drive tray or on the level area at a predetermined distance from an edge of the level area that is abutting a sloped area, and wherein at least one of the replaceable drive tray or the replaceable drive area includes a retraction mechanism for facilitating extraction of the replaceable drive tray;

the sloped area that has a slope from a first end of the sloped area that abuts to the level area to a second end of the sloped area; and

at least one surrounding section that couples to at least one of the level area and the sloped area.

2. The pitching mound of claim 1 further comprises:

the level area including a base and a level area fixed mound section, the base supports the replaceable drive area and the level area fixed mound section and wherein the level area fixed mound section partially encircles the replaceable drive area.

3. The pitching mound of claim 1 further comprises:

the replaceable drive area tray including a securing mechanism; and

the drive area receptacle including a mating securing mechanism, wherein, when the replaceable drive area tray is positioned within the drive area receptacle, the securing mechanism and mating securing mechanism secure the replaceable drive area tray to the drive area receptacle.

4. The pitching mound of claim 2 further comprises:

the base is constructed of one or more solid materials from a list of solid materials, wherein the list of solid materials includes aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood, plastic, and carbon fiber; and

the level area fixed mound section is constructed of one or more solid materials from the list of solid materials.

5. The pitching mound of claim 4 further comprises:

the level area fixed mound section includes a solid material top surface.

6. The pitching mound of claim 1 further comprises:

a replaceable landing tray, wherein:

the sloped area includes a replaceable landing area for at least partially receiving the replaceable landing tray.

7. The pitching mound of claim 1 , wherein the replaceable drive area comprises:

a pitching mound material that includes one or more of:

dirt;

clay;

sand;

gravel;

rubber;

a composite material; and

a moisture absorbent material.

8. A pitching mound comprises:

a level area that supports a pitching rubber;

a replaceable landing tray;

a sloped area that has a slope from a first end of the sloped area that abuts to the level area to a second end of the sloped area, wherein the sloped area includes a replaceable landing area for at least partially receiving the replaceable landing tray, and wherein at least one of the replaceable landing area tray or the replaceable landing area includes a retraction mechanism for facilitating extraction of the replaceable landing tray; and

at least one surrounding section that couples to at least one of the level area and the sloped area.

9. The pitching mound of claim 8 further comprises:

the sloped area including a base and a sloped area fixed mound section, the base supports the replaceable landing area and the sloped area fixed mound section and wherein the sloped area fixed mound section partially encircles the replaceable landing area.

10. The pitching mound of claim 8 further comprises:

the replaceable landing area tray including a securing mechanism; and

the landing area receptacle including a mating securing mechanism, wherein, when the replaceable landing area tray is positioned within the landing area receptacle, the securing mechanism and mating securing mechanism secure the replaceable landing area tray to the landing area receptacle.

11. The pitching mound of claim 9 further comprises:

the base is constructed of one or more solid materials from a list of solid materials, wherein the list of solid materials includes aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood, plastic, and carbon fiber; and

the sloped area fixed mound section is constructed of one or more solid materials from the list of solid materials.

12. The pitching mound of claim 8 , wherein the replaceable landing tray comprises:

a pitching mound material that includes one or more of:

dirt;

clay;

sand;

gravel;

rubber;

a composite material; and

a moisture absorbent material.
