Abstract

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a stream of biometric imaging data of a patient; receiving medical data about the patient; receiving a video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data; receiving supplemental information selected from a group consisting of: a second video stream depicting a human, one or more use cases corresponding to the biometric imaging data, an image of anatomy comparable to the biometric imaging data; and preparing for simultaneous output to a graphical user interface on a single display screen: the biometric imaging data, the medical data, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information. Each of the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information is simultaneously output in a unique region of the graphical user interface.

Claims (27)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a stream of biometric imaging data of a patient;

receiving medical data about the patient;

receiving a video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data;

receiving supplemental information selected from a group consisting of: a second video stream depicting a human, one or more use cases corresponding to the biometric imaging data, an image of anatomy comparable to the biometric imaging data;

preparing for simultaneous output to a graphical user interface on a single display screen: the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information;

sending changes to the supplemental information to a remote server for saving said changes;

detecting, using a computer aided diagnostic program, and flagging a spot on an organ in the biometric imaging data; and automatically selecting an image of anatomy comparable to the biometric imaging data based on an analysis of the biometric imaging data without receiving user input, the selected image being sent to the second location; sending instructions to alter an acquisition characteristic of the biometric imaging data to a remote location, wherein the instructions are control instructions from a user, the instructions being for outputting to a device acquiring the biometric imaging data;

wherein each of the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information is simultaneously output in a unique region of the graphical user interface,

wherein the stream of biometric imaging data is received in real time concurrently with the video stream, and further comprising sending user input to a location of the source of the biometric imaging data,

wherein the supplemental information includes the second video stream, wherein the second video stream is of a medical practitioner,

wherein the medical practitioner also sees the information on the graphical user interface.

2. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the biometric imaging data is ultrasound sonograph data.

3. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the biometric imaging data is radiography data.

4. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the biometric imaging data is compressed and transmitted at a rate of less than 800 kilobits per second.

5. A method, comprising:

receiving from a first location via a network a stream of biometric imaging data of a patient, wherein the biometric imaging data includes ultrasound sonograph data;

receiving medical data about the patient; receiving a video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data;

receiving supplemental information selected from a group consisting of: a second video stream depicting a human, one or more use cases corresponding to the biometric imaging data, an image of anatomy comparable to the biometric imaging data;

preparing for simultaneous output on a graphical user interface on a single display screen at a second location that is remote from the first location: the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information;

sending the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information to a device having the display screen at the second location; wherein each of the biometric imaging data, the medical data about the patient, the video stream depicting a source of the biometric imaging data, and the supplemental information is simultaneously output in a unique region of the graphical user interface;

receiving user input from the first location for controlling a device acquiring the ultrasound sonograph data;

sending the user input to the second location of the source of the biometric imaging data;

detecting, using a computer aided diagnostic program, and flagging a spot on an organ in the biometric imaging data; and automatically selecting the image of anatomy comparable to the biometric imaging data based on an analysis of the biometric imaging data without receiving user input, the selected image being sent to the second location; receiving instructions to alter an acquisition characteristic of the biometric imaging data from the remote location; and outputting the instructions to alter the acquisition characteristic of the biometric imaging data, wherein the instructions are control instructions from a user at the remote location, the instructions being output to a device acquiring the biometric imaging data; and

sending changes to the supplemental information to a remote server for saving said changes, wherein the supplemental information includes the second video stream, wherein the second video stream is of a medical practitioner, wherein the medical practitioner also sees the information on the graphical user interface,

wherein the stream of biometric imaging data is received in real time concurrently with the video stream, and further comprising sending user input to a location of the source of the biometric imaging data.

6. The method as recited in claim 5 , wherein the biometric imaging data further includes radiography data.
