Abstract

Provided herein are compositions and methods including hydraulic cement, supplementary cementitious material, and/or self-cementing material. Methods for making the compositions and using the compositions are provided.

Claims (12)

1. A construction panel comprising, a composition or a set and hardened form of the composition wherein the composition comprises a non-naturally occurring supplementary cementitious material (SCM) or a non-naturally occurring hydraulic cement, where the SCM or the hydraulic cement comprises at least 10% w/w vaterite and at least 1% w/w aragonite, wherein the composition has a carbon isotopic fractionation value (δ 13 C) of less than −12‰.

2. The construction panel of claim 1 , wherein the construction panel is cement board, fiber-cement siding, drywall, or combinations thereof.

3. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the cement board has a flexural strength of between 1-7.5 MPa, compressive strength of between 5-50 MPa, or both.

4. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the cement board further comprises fiberglass, dispersed glass fibers, or combination thereof.

5. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the cement board further comprises plasticizer, foaming agent, accelerator, retarder, air entrainment additive, or combinations thereof.

6. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the fiber-cement siding has a flexural strength of between 0.5-5 MPa, compressive strength of between 2-25 MPa, or both.

7. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the fiber-cement siding further comprises cellulose fibers, plasticizer, foaming agent, accelerator, retarder, air entrainment additive, or combinations thereof.

8. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the drywall has a flexural strength of between 0.1-3 MPa, compressive strength of between 1-20 MPa, or both.

9. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the drywall further comprises gypsum.

10. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the drywall further comprises fibers, plasticizer, foaming agent, accelerator, retarder, additive that increases mildew and fire resistance, or combinations thereof.

11. The construction panel of claim 2 , wherein the drywall further comprises paper, fiberglass, or combination thereof.

12. The construction panel of claim 1 , further comprising fiberglass, dispersed glass fibers, plasticizer, foaming agent, accelerator, retarder, air entrainment additive, or combinations thereof.
