Abstract

A powered card may include a circuit board with multiple layers, and may include multiple reader communication devices. One of the layers may include an RFID antenna. The layer including the RFID antenna may occupy an entire region of a card outside of a region including a magnetic stripe communication device.

6. The card of claim 1 , wherein the circuit board includes an EMV chip, a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) associated with a magnetic stripe communication device.

7. A card comprising:

a circuit board including at least three layers,

wherein the at least three layers include a first layer, a second layer and a third layer, the second layer between the first and third layers,

a magnetic stripe communication device extends through the first layer, and

the third layer includes an antenna, the antenna occupying the entirety of the third layer, the antenna not overlapping a region of the card including the magnetic stripe communication device.

8. A card comprising:

a circuit board including at least three layers,

wherein the at least three layers include a first layer, a second layer and a third layer, the second layer between the first and third layers,

a magnetic stripe communication device extends through the first layer,

a battery extends through the first layer and second layer, and

the third layer includes an antenna, the antenna including a coil occupying the entire peripheral region of the third layer, the antenna not overlapping a region of the card including the magnetic stripe communication device.

9. The card of claim 8 , wherein a thickness of the card is about 30 mils.

10. A circuit board comprising:

a first layer including a processor, a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip, an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) associated with a magnetic stripe communication device, an access port, an EMV buffer and battery pads;

a second layer including at least one head reader, a die foundation for the ASIC, and -a supports for the access port; and

a third layer including a connector and an antenna.

11. The circuit board of claim 10 , wherein the antenna includes concentric conductive lines in a multi-turn, closed loop pattern occupying a portion of the circuit board off axis from a magnetic field generator of a magnetic stripe communication device.
