Abstract

A single identity and billing relationship can be employed for multiple UE (user equipment) associated with a subscriber. Specifically, each of the multiple UEs can employ LTE (Long Term Evolution) radio technology to authenticate and register with a femto access point. Further, the transport level billing associated with the multiple UE can be facilitated by the femto access point by employing a femto id (identity) and/or credentials. Moreover, the femto access point can be employed by the multiple UEs as a network hub and can be employed by the UEs to perform authentication to connect to a core network. In addition, the femto access point can determine an authorized IP cloud associated with a registered UE and allow the registered UE to access only the authorized IP cloud.

Claims (35)

1. A user equipment, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

in response to a determination that the user equipment is within a coverage area associated with a femto access point device, facilitating a coupling with the femto access point device; and

based on identifier data indicative of an identifier assigned to the femto access point device, facilitating an authentication of the user equipment with a network device that is coupled to the femto access point device.

2. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:

directing, to the femto access point device, request data indicative of a request to initiate a communication via the femto access point device.

3. The user equipment of claim 2 , wherein the communication is a transfer of streaming media data.

4. The user equipment of claim 2 , wherein the communication is a transfer of report data indicative of a status report associated with the user equipment.

5. The user equipment of claim 2 , wherein the communication is a transfer of notification data indicative of a diagnosed problem associated with the user equipment.

6. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein the network device is a server of an internet protocol network.

7. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein the facilitating the coupling comprises facilitating, based on registration data, a registration of the user equipment with the femto access point device.

8. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein the facilitating the authentication of the user equipment with the network device further comprises facilitating the authentication of the user equipment with the network device based on credential data associated with a user identity assigned to the user equipment.

9. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein the user equipment is a long term evolution-based appliance.

10. A method, comprising:

subsequent to a user equipment being determined to be coupled to a femto access point device, determining, by the user equipment comprising a processor, identification data that is associated with an identification value assigned to the femto access point device; and

based on the identification data, facilitating, by the user equipment, an authentication of the user equipment with a network device that is coupled to the femto access point device.

11. The method of claim 10 , further comprising:

directing, by the user equipment, request data to the femto access point device, wherein the request data indicative of a request to transfer communication data via the femto access point device.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the directing comprises directing the request data indicative of the request to transfer report data indicative of a status report associated with the user equipment.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the directing comprises directing the request data indicative of the request to transfer alarm data indicative of a problem diagnosed by the user equipment.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the authentication is a first authentication and the method further comprises:

facilitating, by the user equipment, a disconnection from the femto access point device; and

subsequent to the facilitating and based on the identification data, initiating, by the user equipment, a second authentication with the network device via a disparate access point device.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

subsequent to the second authentication and in response to determining that policy data associated with the user equipment is determined to satisfy a defined policy criterion, facilitating, by the user equipment, an establishment of a communication between the network device and the user equipment via the disparate access point device.

16. A computer readable storage device comprising executable instructions that, in response to execution, cause a user equipment comprising a processor to perform operations, comprising:

subsequent to registration of the user equipment with a femto access point device, accessing femto identification data that is assigned to the femto access point device; and

based on the femto identification data, initiating, via the femto access point device, an authentication of the user equipment with a macro network device.

17. The computer readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:

based on registration data comprising an internet protocol address of the user equipment, facilitating the registration of the user equipment with the femto access point device.

18. The computer readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the femto identification data is indicative of an identification associated with the femto access point device.

19. The computer readable storage device of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:

subsequent to the authentication, facilitating a transmission of communication data between the user equipment and the macro network device, wherein the femto identification data is utilized to facilitate a determination of billing data associated with the transmission.

20. The computer readable storage device of claim 19 , wherein the communication data comprises report data indicative of a status report determined by the user equipment.
