Abstract

An article that is a porous, dissolvable solid structure that dissolves easily due to the shape, product orientation and/or method of manufacturing the porous, dissolvable solid structure. The process of making the Article involves preparing a pre-mixture, aerating the pre-mixture, dosing the pre-mixture into individual cavities in molds, and drying the pre-mixture to an Article having an open celled foam with a % open cell of from about 80% to about 100%.

Claims (22)

1. A personal care article in the form of a porous dissolvable solid structure, comprising:

(a) from about 0% to about 75% surfactant;

(b) from about 15% to about 70% polymeric structurant, wherein said polymeric structurant has a weighted average molecular weight of from about 40,000 to about 500,000; and

(c) from about 1% to about 30% plasticizer;

wherein the article is an open celled foam with a % open cell of from about 80% to about 100% and, wherein the article has a top and a bottom, and wherein the top comprises a concave acquisition region wherein the pores have an average diameter of from about 0.125 to about 0.850 mm and wherein the bottom has pores having an average diameter of from about 0.020 to about 0.125 mm.

2. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the article comprises from about 23% to about 75% by weight of the article of surfactant.

3. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the article comprises from about 30% to about 70% by weight of the article of surfactant.

4. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the article comprises from about 40% to about 65% by weight of the article of surfactant.

5. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the article has a design located at the acquisition region.

6. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the top of the article comprise a design.

7. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the bottom of the article has a convex region.

8. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the article includes an indicia of orientation of top and bottom of the article.

9. The personal care article of claim 8 , wherein the indicia is printed on the top of the article.

10. The personal care article of claim 8 , wherein the indicia is molded on the article.

11. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the top of the article and the bottom of the article are different colors.

12. The personal care article of claim 1 , wherein the top of the article and the bottom of the article are different textures.

13. A personal care article in the form of a porous dissolvable solid structure, comprising:

(a) from about 0% to about 75% surfactant;

(b) from about 15% to about 70% polymeric structurant, wherein said polymeric structurant has a weighted average molecular weight of from about 40,000 to about 500,000; and

(c) from about 1% to about 30% plasticizer;

wherein the article is an open celled foam with a % open cell of from about 80% to about 100% and, wherein the article has a top and a bottom, and wherein the top comprises an acquisition region wherein the pores have an average diameter of from about 0.125 to about 0.850 mm and wherein the article has a concave area located at the acquisition region.

14. The personal care article of claim 11 , wherein the article has a center and an edge, and the center thickness is less than the edge thickness.
