Abstract

A method of integrating the Modular Chiller System into an existing walk-in cooler includes the steps of 1.) selecting a portion of an existing walk-in cooler, 2.) installing walls and doors, by means known in the art, to define an existing space within the cooler 3.) positioning a frame assembly of refrigeration and electrical components on one of the interior walls, 4.) positioning a controller unit on an exterior wall and interfacing the controller unit to the frame assembly, and 5.) positioning a remote condenser unit and interfacing the condenser unit to the frame assembly.

Claims (19)

1. A method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room, comprising the steps of:

sizing an area of the existing refrigeration room;

installing new panels to create a smaller enclosure within said refrigeration room;

providing the modular chiller system within the smaller enclosure,the modular chiller system having a separate frame assembly independent of said smaller enclosure panels.

2. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , wherein the step of sizing an area of the existing refrigeration room is determined by a quantity of food to be shock freezed in a given cycle.

3. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , wherein the step of sizing an area of the existing refrigeration room further includes the step of partitioning a single rack space in 20 ft increments.

4. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 2 , further including the step of:

selecting an evaporator and condenser size for the modular chiller system based on the quantity of food to be shock freezed in a given cycle within said sized area of an existing refrigeration room.

5. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , further including the step of installing at least one door for entry and exit into said smaller enclosure.

6. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , further including the step of positioning a control unit outside of said small enclosure.

7. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 6 , further including the step of interfacing said control unit to said modular chiller system.

8. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , further including the step of interfacing an external condensing unit to said modular chiller system.

The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 1 , wherein said modular chiller system further includes a temperature adjustment means, said temperature adjustment means for comparing a measured product temperature with a target product temperature and controlling said modular chiller system to lower said product temperature to said target temperature, said temperature adjustment means comprising a sensor, said sensor measuring a product temperature.

10. A method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room, comprising the steps of:

creating a smaller enclosed space within said refrigeration room;

selecting an evaporator and condenser size for the modular chiller system based on a quantity of food to be shock freezed in a given cycle within said smaller enclosed space;

providing the modular chiller system within the smaller space, the modular chiller system having a separate frame assembly independent of said smaller enclosed space.

11. The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 10 , wherein said step of creating a smaller enclosed space includes the step of partitioning panels within said enclosed space.

The method of retrofitting a modular chiller system to an existing refrigeration room as in claim 10 , wherein said modular chiller system further includes a temperature adjustment means, said temperature adjustment means for comparing a measured product temperature with a target product temperature and controlling said modular chiller system to lower said product temperature to said target temperature, said temperature adjustment means comprising a sensor, said sensor measuring a product temperature.
