Method of treating functional somatic syndromes with combination of famciclovir and diclofenac
The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising a combination of a therapeutically-effective amount of the antiviral compound famciclovir and a therapeutically-effective amount of the COX-2 inhibitor diclofenac. The invention is further related to methods of treating functional somatic syndromes by administering a therapeutically-effective combination of famciclovir and diclofenac.
1. A method to treat a subject afflicted with one or more functional somatic syndrome conditions, the method comprising administering to the subject a combination of famciclovir and diclofenac therapeutically-effective to treat at least one functional somatic syndrome condition selected from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the treatment-subject is afflicted with a gastrointestinal disorder arising from HSV-1 gastrointestinal-tract infection, along with the functional somatic syndrome.

The method of claim 1 , wherein each of famciclovir and diclofenac is administered in a dosage amount in combination to provide therapeutically-effective treatment of at least one functional somatic syndrome condition, wherein the therapeutically-effective treatment provides an improved adverse event profile.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein one or more functional somatic syndrome conditions are fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, coexistent in the subject.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein one or more functional somatic syndrome conditions are fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome, coexistent in the subject.
