Abstract

Regenerator for catalytic cracking unit comprising a first part occupied by a dense fluidized bed of catalyst and a second part positioned above the first part and occupied by a fluidized bed of low solid particles density, the said second part comprising one internal device covering, by projection onto the plane of the cross section of the said vessel of the regenerator, at least 80% of the said cross section, the said regenerator being equipped with at least one cyclone for separating gases/solids in the mixture derived from the low-density bed, the said cyclone being placed outside the vessel of the regenerator.

Claims (23)

1. A regenerator for catalytic cracking unit formed of a vessel comprising a first part intended to be occupied by a dense first fluidized bed of solid particles and a second part positioned above the first part and intended to be occupied at least partly by a second fluidized bed of low solid particles density, the second part comprising one internal device covering, by projection onto a plane of a cross section of the vessel, at least 80% of a free cross-sectional area of the vessel of the regenerator, the vessel being equipped with at least one cyclone for separating a mixture of gas and solid particles derived from the second fluidized bed, the cyclone being placed outside the vessel, and the cyclone being designed to collect the mixture of gas and solid particles and comprising a plurality of pipes opening inside the vessel, under the internal device, and without passing through the internal device,

wherein the cross section of the vessel is a plane perpendicular to an axis of the vessel and perpendicular to a direction in which the mixture of gas and solid particles flows,

wherein the internal device is made up of one or more individual elements, each individual element being made up of one or more plate stages, each of the plate stages comprising a plurality of plates,

wherein each of the plurality of plates is inclined parallel to one another within a single plate stage,

wherein the plurality of plates in the single plate stage are inclined at an opposite direction to the plurality of plates in an immediately adjacent plate stage, and

wherein the plates of the internal device do not criss-cross.

2. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the regenerator is further equipped with one, two or three cyclone stages in series, each stage comprising the at least one cyclone, and wherein each stage comprises from 1 to 10 cyclones.

3. The regenerator according to claim 2 , characterized in that the regenerator is equipped with two cyclone stages in series, a primary cyclones stage, wherein the at least one cyclone of the primary cyclones stage is designed to collect the gases derived from the vessel of the regenerator, and a secondary cyclones stage, wherein the at least one cyclone of the secondary cyclones stage is designed to collect the gases derived from the primary cyclones stage, and in that the plurality of pipes comprises a first pipe and a second pipe, wherein the first pipe returns the solid particles from the primary cyclones stage to the vessel and opens into the first part of the vessel, and the second pipe returns the solid particles from the secondary cyclones stage to the vessel and opens into the second part of the vessel.

4. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the internal device is placed above the first fluidized bed at a height h from the surface of the first fluidized bed such that a ratio of the height h to a height of the first fluidized bed H 1 varies from 0.05 to 1.5.

5. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the internal device occupies less than 10% of a free cross-sectional area parallel to the cross section of the vessel of the regenerator and its projection onto a plane of the cross section covers more than 80% of the surface area of the free cross-sectional area.

6. The regenerator according to claim 5 , characterized in that the projection of the internal device onto the plane of the cross section covers more than 90% of the surface area of the free cross-sectional area of the vessel.

7. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that a cross section of the internal device, parallel to the plane of the free cross-sectional area of the vessel of the regenerator, occupies at most 5% of the surface area of the free cross-sectional area of the vessel.

8. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the plates of two adjacent plate stages are separate.

9. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the internal device has a height of 30 to 50 cm and in that the inclination of each plate with respect to a horizontal plane is from 30 to 60°.

10. The regenerator according to claim 1 , characterized in that the inclination of each of the plurality of plates is from 35 to 55°.

11. The regenerator according to claim 10 , characterized in that the inclination of each of the plurality of plates is from 40 to 50°.

12. The regenerator according to claim 11 , characterized in that the inclination of each of the plurality of plates is 45°.

13. A method of separating a mixture of gas and solid particles derived from a regenerator of a catalytic cracking unit, the regenerator comprising a vessel of which a first part is occupied by a dense first fluidized bed of catalyst particles and a second part, arranged above the first part, is occupied by a second fluidized bed of low catalyst-particle density with respect to the first fluidized bed,

in which gases and solids from the second fluidized bed pass through an internal device situated inside the vessel of the regenerator and are then collected at the outlet of the vessel by at least one separation cyclone situated outside the vessel,

in which the solid particles recovered by the at least one separation cyclone are returned into the vessel, under the internal device, without passing through the internal device, and

in which the internal device covers, by projection onto the plane of the cross section of the vessel of the regenerator, at least 80% of a free cross-sectional area of the vessel of the regenerator, the internal device being made up of one or more individual elements, each individual element being made up of one or more plate stages comprising a plurality of plates which are inclined parallel to one another within a single plate stage,

wherein the plurality of plates in the single plate stage are inclined at an opposite direction to the plurality of plates in an immediately adjacent plate stage, and

wherein the plates of the internal device do not criss-cross.
