Abstract

An antenna further comprising: a first port, a second port, where the first port is 180-degrees out of phase with respect to the second port.

Claims (19)

1. An at least half wavelength antenna comprising:

a first port; and

an inverted second port;

wherein the first port's electrical location and the second port's electrical location ensure that the first port and the second port are intrinsically 180-degrees out of phase.

2. The antenna as recited in claim 1 , where the antenna is a half wavelength antenna.

3. The antenna as recited in claim 2 , in which the antenna is a slot antenna.

4. The antenna as recited in claim 3 , in which the first port and the second port are located on the antenna at points electrically opposite each other with respect to the slot's electrical centre.

5. The antenna as recited in claim 4 , where the first port and the second port have equal impedance.

6. The antenna as recited in claim 5 , where the antenna is symmetric.

7. The antenna as recited in claim 6 , where the antenna is configured to operate at a microwave frequency.

8. A method for using an at least half wavelength antenna, the method comprising steps of:

selecting a first port's electrical location and an inverted second port's electrical location, on the antenna, in order to ensure that the first port and the second port are intrinsically 180-degrees out of phase;

exciting the antenna at the first port of the antenna; and

exciting the antenna at the second port of the antenna.

9. An at least half wavelength slot antenna further comprising:

a radiator;

a first port; and

an inverted second port;

wherein the first port and the second port are located on the antenna at points electrically opposite each other with respect to the slot's electrical center in order to ensure that the first port and the second port are intrinsically 180-degrees out of phase.
