Abstract

A telecommunications assembly includes a chassis defining an interior region and a tray assembly disposed in the interior region. The tray assembly includes a tray and a cable spool assembly. The cable spool assembly is engaged to a base panel of the tray. The cable spool assembly is adapted to rotate relative to the tray. The cable spool assembly includes a hub, a flange engaged to the hub and an adapter module. The flange defines a termination area. The adapter module is engaged to the termination module of the flange. The adapter module is adapted to slide relative to the flange in a direction that is generally parallel to the flange between an extended position and a retracted position.

Claims (51)

1. A telecommunications management module comprising:

a panel having: a bottom wall; two, opposite, sides; a first end; and, a second end, that together define a panel interior, the panel including fiber optic components positioned on the panel interior;

a chassis housing including a chassis housing body defining a height, and a depth, the chassis housing body including a front end and a back end separated by the depth of the chassis housing body, the chassis housing body including two, opposite, side walls; and

first and second mounting interfaces respectively disposed at the two, opposite, sides of the panel for allowing the panel to be inserted into the chassis housing from both the front end and the back end of the chassis housing body;

the two, opposite, sides of the panel each including a first biased member at the first end, and a second biased member at the second end.

2. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the first and second mounting interfaces respectively engage interior surfaces of the two, opposite, side walls of the chassis housing body when the panel is inserted in the chassis housing body.

3. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the chassis housing is adapted for connection to a telecommunications rack.

4. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the first and second biased members are defined by the first and second mounting interfaces for controlling movement of the panel relative to the chassis housing body.

5. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the first end is a front end of the bottom wall of the panel.

6. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the second end is a back end of the bottom wall of the panel.

7. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the panel is removable from the housing body through the front end.

8. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the panel is removable from the housing body through the back end.

9. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the first and second mounting interfaces of the panel each include first and second projections, and each of the two, opposite, sides walls of the chassis housing body defines first and second notches for respectively receiving the first and second projections of each one of the first and second mounting interfaces of the panel.

10. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the fiber optic components include at least one fiber optic adapter, the panel being configured to slide relative to the chassis housing body.

11. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , wherein the fiber optic components include a plurality of fiber optic adapters.

12. The telecommunications management module of claim 1 , further comprising a first spool mounted to the panel at a location above a top side of the bottom wall of the panel.

13. The telecommunications management module of claim 12 , wherein the first spool is rotatable relative to the panel.

14. The telecommunications management module of claim 12 , further comprising a second spool mounted to the panel at a location below the bottom wall of the panel, wherein the second spool is mounted on a spindle to facilitate paying out a main cable portion.

15. A telecommunications apparatus comprising:

a tray having a first end, an opposite second end, and two, opposite, sides extending between the first and second ends, the tray including fiber optic components positioned thereon; and

first and second latching arrangements respectively disposed at the two, opposite, sides of the tray, the first and second latching arrangements being configured to cooperate with notches of a chassis housing to secure the tray into position;

the two, opposite, sides of the tray each including a forward deflectable member at the first end, and a rearward deflectable member at the second end;

the tray being slidable in a front-to-back orientation such that the tray can be inserted from a front end and a back end of the chassis housing.

16. The telecommunications apparatus of claim 15 , wherein each of the first and second latching arrangements include the forward deflectable member and the rearward deflectable member for controlling movement of the tray relative to the chassis housing.

17. The telecommunications apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the fiber optic components include at least one fan-out.

18. The telecommunications apparatus of claim 15 , further comprising a cable spool assembly rotatably mounted to the tray.

19. The telecommunications apparatus of claim 18 , wherein the cable spool includes a hub, a first flange engaged to the hub, and a second flange engaged to the hub opposite the first flange.

20. The telecommunications apparatus of claim 19 , further comprising an adapter module adapted to rotate in unison with the cable spool assembly and to slide relative to the second flange.

21. A telecommunications management module comprising:

a panel having: a bottom wall; two, opposite, sides; a first end; and, a second end, that together define a panel interior, the panel including fiber optic components positioned on the panel interior;

a chassis housing including a chassis housing body defining a height, and a depth, the chassis housing body including a front end and a back end separated by the depth of the chassis housing body, the chassis housing body including two, opposite, side walls; and

first and second mounting interfaces respectively disposed at the two, opposite, sides of the panel for allowing the panel to be inserted into the chassis housing from both the front end and the back end of the chassis housing body;

wherein the first and second mounting interfaces each define a first biased member at the first end and a second biased member at the second end for controlling movement of the panel relative to the chassis housing body.

22. A telecommunications management module comprising:

a panel having: a bottom wall; two, opposite, sides; a first end; and, a second end, that together define a panel interior, the panel including fiber optic components positioned on the panel interior;

a chassis housing including a chassis housing body defining a height, and a depth, the chassis housing body including a front end and a back end separated by the depth of the chassis housing body, the chassis housing body including two, opposite, side walls; and
