Abstract

A status expression system and method operating the same are provided for presenting a state of the mobile phone by means of a character agent. A status expression system of the present invention includes a memory for storing a plurality of character quotients, information on at least one state transition model, and resources for presenting the character; a character controller for updating the character quotients according to events occurred in the mobile phone, determining a state by analyzing the character quotients and referring to the state transition model, and formatting the state using the resources assigned for the state of the character; and a display for presenting the character with the resources in the state.

Claims (59)

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal; and

a controller configured to:

identify whether an event associated with use of a terminal occurs,

identify an event group in which the event is included,

update at least one state information corresponding to the event group among a plurality of state information, the at least one state information including a social state, an emotional state, an intellectual state, and a physical state, each of which correspond to each of a plurality of event groups, and

select at least one state for a character based on the updated state information,

wherein the at least one state information is updated based on the event group and predetermined information determined according to a type of the character,

wherein same state information is updated for different event of a same event group, and

wherein the at least one state for the character is determined based on the updated state information, when a number of user feedback is equal or less than a predetermined number, and the at least one state for the character is determined based on user feedback related information, when the number of user feedback is greater than the predetermined number.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

apply a mathematical function to update the state information.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

select the at least one state based at least in part on one or more user inputs in in relation with at least one event.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

quantify the event using quantified data corresponding to the event; and

update the state information by accumulating the quantified result.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the quantified data is predetermined according to the event and the character.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one state comprises a plurality of emotions, wherein the controller is configured to:

select at least one emotion from the plurality of emotions for the character based at least in part on one or more user inputs in relation with at least one event; and

present the character using a representation corresponding to the at least one emotion.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the controller is configured to:

select the at least one emotion based at least in part on at least one of a number or properties of the user inputs, a ratio of positive feedbacks or negative feedbacks in relation to the user inputs, or a number of the plurality of data above or below a specified value.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one state is represented by using at least one of an animation, an image, a text, or an audio.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

reset a corresponding state of a plurality of states, in response to an user input in relation with a state-changing item.

10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to:

adjust a corresponding data of a plurality of states, in response to an user input in relation with a data-changing item; and

reflect the corresponding data to reset the at least one state.

11. A method comprising:

identifying, by a terminal, whether an event associated with use of the terminal occurs;

identifying, by the terminal, an event group in which the event is included;

updating, by the terminal, at least one state information corresponding to the event group among a plurality of state information, the at least one state information including a social state, an emotional state, an intellectual state, and a physical state, each of which correspond to each of a plurality of event groups; and

selecting, by the terminal, at least one state for a character based on the updated state information,

wherein the at least one state information is updated based on the event group and predetermined information determined according to a type of the character,

wherein same state information is updated for different event of a same event group, and

wherein the at least one state for the character is determined based on the updated state information, when a number of user feedback is equal or less than a predetermined number, and the at least one state for the character is determined based on user feedback related information, when the number of user feedback is greater than the predetermined number.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the selecting comprises:

selecting the at least one state based at least in part on one or more user inputs in in relation with at least event.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the determining comprises:

quantifying the event using quantified data corresponding to the event; and

updating the state information by accumulating the quantified result.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the quantified data is predetermined according to the event and the character.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one state comprises a plurality of emotions, wherein the selecting comprises:

selecting at least one emotion from the plurality of emotions for the character based at least in part on one or more user inputs in relation with at least one event; and

presenting the character using a representation corresponding to the at least one emotion.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the selecting of the at least one emotion is based at least in part on at least one of a number or properties of the user inputs, a ratio of positive feedbacks or negative feedbacks in relation to the user inputs, or a number of the plurality of data above or below a specified value.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the selecting comprises:

resetting a corresponding state of a plurality of states based at least in part on an user input in relation with a state-changing item.

18. The method of claim 15 , the updating comprises:

adjusting a corresponding data of a plurality of states, in response to an user input in relation with a data-changing item.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
