Glutamate dehydrogenase 1 inhibitors and methods of treating cancer
This disclosure relates to methods of treating or preventing cancer comprising administering an effective amount of a glutamate dehydrogenase 1 inhibitor to a subject in need thereof. In certain embodiments, the inhibitor has Formula I: prodrugs, derivatives, or salts thereof wherein the substituents are reported herein. In certain embodiments, the inhibitor is purpurin, derivative, or salt thereof. In certain embodiments, the inhibitor is 2-allyl-1-hydroxyanthracene-9,10-dione, prodrugs, derivatives, or salts thereof.
1. A method of treating cancer comprising administering an effective amount of 2-allyl-1-hydroxyanthracene-9,10-dione or salts thereof to a subject in need thereof.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the inhibitor is administered in combination with a second chemotherapeutic agent.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the second chemotherapeutic agent is gefitinib, erlotinib, docetaxel, cis-platin, 5-fluorouracil, gemcitabine, tegafur, raltitrexed, methotrexate, cytosine arabinoside, hydroxyurea, adriamycin, bleomycin, doxorubicin, daunomycin, epirubicin, idarubicin, mitomycin-C, dactinomycin and mithramycin, vincristine, vinblastine, vindesine, vinorelbine taxol, taxotere, etoposide, teniposide, amsacrine, topotecan, camptothecin bortezomib anegrilide, tamoxifen, toremifene, raloxifene, droloxifene, iodoxyfene fulvestrant, bicalutamide, flutamide, nilutamide, cyproterone, goserelin, leuprorelin, buserelin, megestrol anastrozole, letrozole, vorazole, exemestane, finasteride, marimastat, trastuzumab, cetuximab, dasatinib, imatinib, bevacizumab, combretastatin, thalidomide, and/or lenalidomide or combinations thereof.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancer is selected from the group consisting of leukemia, cervical, ovarian, colon, breast, gastric, lung, skin, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, and renal cancer.
