Abstract

Re-initialization of a link can take place without termination of the link, where the link includes, a transmitter and a receiver are to be coupled to each lane in the number of lanes, and re-initialization of the link is to include transmission of a pre-defined sequence on each of the lanes.

wherein each of the six training sequences comprises a respective header.

2. The processor device of claim 1 , wherein the respective header comprises a type field to indicate that the training sequence corresponds to the detect state.

3. The processor device of claim 1 , wherein the pattern is to be repeated according to a particular frequency.

4. The processor device of claim 3 , the pattern is to be repeated approximately once every 1000 unit intervals (UI).

5. The processor device of claim 1 , wherein an instance of the detect supersequence is to be sent on each of a plurality of lanes of the link.

6. The processor device of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of lanes comprises one of 8 lanes or 20 lanes.

7. The processor device of claim 1 , further comprising a receiver, wherein the receiver is to receive an instance of the detect supersequence from the other device in association with the detect state.

8. The processor device of claim 7 , wherein the physical layer logic is further to validate the instance of the detect supersequence to detect an agent of the other device.

9. The processor device of claim 1 , wherein the detect state comprises a transmitter detect state.

10. The processor device of claim 9 , wherein the physical layer logic is further to exit the detect state to a polling state.

11. The processor device of claim 9 , wherein the physical layer logic is to enter the transmitter detect state.

12. The processor device of claim 11 , wherein the physical layer logic is to enter the transmitter detect state from one of a low power state or a transmitter calibration state.

13. An apparatus comprising:

a controller associated with a first processor, wherein the controller is to interface between the first processor to recognize a first instruction set and second processor to recognize a second instruction set that is different from the first instruction set, the controller comprising protocol layer logic, link layer logic, and physical layer logic, the physical layer to support initialization signaling to initialize a link,

wherein the signaling comprise a detect supersequence to be sent in a detect state, the detect supersequence comprises a pattern to be repeated according to a particular frequency, and the pattern comprises an ordered set (OS) and a series of training sequences to indicate the detect state, and each of the training sequences in the series comprises a respective header identifying the detect state.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising the first processor.

15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the OS comprises an electrical idle exit ordered set (EIEOS).

16. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein:

the EIEOS comprises a 16 byte ordered set,

bytes 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 of the EIEOS comprise a hexadecimal value 00, and

bytes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 of the EIEOS comprise a hexadecimal value FF.

17. A method comprising:

entering a detect state in association with initialization of a link between a first device and a second device, wherein the detect state is one of a plurality of states further comprising a reset state, a polling state, and a configuration state;

sending a detect supersequence to the second device, wherein the detect supersequence comprises a pattern to be repeated according to a particular frequency, and the pattern comprises an electrical idle exit ordered set (EIEOS) followed by six training sequences to indicate the detect state;

receiving an instance of the detect supersequence at the first device from the second device; and

exiting the detect state to another one of the plurality of states based on the receiving of the instance of the detect supersequence.

18. A system comprising:

a device;

a processor node comprising a controller, the controller comprising protocol layer logic, link layer logic, and physical layer logic, the physical layer logic to:

enter a detect state in association with initialization of a link between the device and the processor node, wherein the detect state is one of a plurality of states further comprising a reset state, a polling state, and a configuration state;
