Abstract

A shower door hinge assembly includes a guide member including a generally cylindrical body, the body defining a plurality of diametrically opposed circumferential slots. The shower door hinge assembly further includes a clamp configured to receive a portion of a shower door, the clamp defining a recess configured to receive a first side of the guide member. The shower door hinge assembly further includes a base defining a plurality of openings and a spacer comprising a generally cylindrical body defining a plurality of through holes at an outer periphery thereof, a first side of the spacer configured to be rotatively received in a corresponding recess in a second side of the guide member. The shower door hinge assembly further includes a plurality of pins configured to be received in the plurality of openings of the base, extend through the plurality of through holes of the spacer, and engage a portion of the plurality of circumferential slots.

Claims (44)

1. A shower door hinge assembly comprising:

a base configured to be fixedly coupled to a fixed structure;

a clamp configured to couple to a portion of a shower door;

a cam comprising a plurality of diametrically opposed wings, wherein the cam is configured to be coupled to the clamp;

a receiver coupled to the base and having an upper end and a lower end, the upper end including a planar surface and a plurality of detents configured to receive the plurality of diametrically opposed wings;

wherein the clamp includes a peg extending therefrom, the peg configured to be received within the cam.

2. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cam is pivotably coupled to the receiver.

3. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the lower end of the receiver comprises a plurality of diametrically opposed posts configured to be received in a corresponding plurality of openings in the base.

4. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 1 ,

wherein the cam defines a first sleeve;

wherein the receiver defines a second sleeve; and

wherein the peg is configured to be received in the first sleeve and the first sleeve is configured to be received in the second sleeve.

5. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cam further comprises a peg projecting from each of the wings toward the upper end of the cam.

6. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 5 , wherein the clamp further defines a recess having a generally cylindrical shape, the recess further defining a plurality of openings at an outer periphery thereof configured to receive the pegs projecting from the cam.

7. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 1 , wherein the base comprises block and a first flange, and a channel defined therebetween, the channel configured to receive a wall member.

8. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 7 , wherein the base further comprises a second flange configured to engage a bottom rail of a shower door frame.

9. A shower door hinge assembly comprising:

a clamp configured to be coupled to a portion of a shower door;

a base configured to be coupled to a fixed structure;

a receiver coupled to the base, wherein the receiver includes a planar surface and a plurality of detents offset from the planar surface;

a cam coupled to a lower portion of the clamp, wherein the cam is configured to pivotably couple the shower door to the base, wherein the cam comprises a plurality of wings configured to be received in the detents of the receiver;

wherein the cam is configured to rotate relative to the receiver such that the plurality of wings bias toward the detents; and

wherein the clamp includes a peg projecting therefrom, the peg configured to be received within the cam.

10. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of wings are diametrically opposed.

11. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 9 , wherein the lower end of the receiver comprises a plurality of diametrically opposed posts configured to be received in a corresponding plurality of openings in the base.

12. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 9 ,

wherein the cam defines a first sleeve;

wherein the receiver defines a second sleeve; and

wherein the peg is configured to be received in the first sleeve and the first sleeve is configured to be received in the second sleeve.

13. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 9 , wherein the cam further comprises a peg projecting from each of the wings toward an upper portion of the cam.

14. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 13 , wherein the clamp further defines a recess having a generally cylindrical shape, wherein the recess further defines a plurality of openings at an outer periphery thereof configured to receive the pegs projecting from the cam.

15. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 9 , wherein the base comprises a block and a first flange defining a channel therebetween, wherein the channel is configured to receive a wall member.

16. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 15 , wherein the base further comprises a second flange configured to engage a bottom rail of a shower door frame.

17. A shower door hinge assembly comprising:

a shower door;

a clamp coupled to a bottom edge portion of the shower door;

a cam coupled to a lower portion of the clamp, wherein the cam comprises a plurality of wings;

a base configured to be coupled to a fixed structure; and

a receiver coupled to the base, wherein the receiver includes a planar surface and a plurality of detents disposed below the planar surface;

wherein the clamp includes a peg projecting therefrom, the peg configured to be received within the cam; and

wherein the shower door is configured to be rotated relative to the base such that the plurality of wings bias downward from the planar surface toward the plurality of detents to define rotational endpoints of the shower door.

18. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 17 , wherein the plurality of wings are diametrically opposed.

19. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 17 , wherein the shower door is configured to move in a downward direction when the plurality of wings bias from the planar surface to the plurality of detents during rotation of the shower door.

20. The shower door hinge assembly of claim 17 , wherein one or more of the plurality of detents correspond to a closed position of the shower door.
