Abstract

The present invention provides methods for treating a cancer in a subject and for inhibiting tumor growth, metastasis or a dihydrorotate oxygenase enzyme activity of a tumor or cancer cell. At least one trisubstituted benzotriazole derivative with the formula (I) is administered to the subject or is contacted with the cancer cell. Compounds of formula (I) have substituents R 1 , R 2 and R 3 which have the meanings given in the specification, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

1. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

3. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

4. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

5. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

6. A compound represented by the following structural formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

7. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

8. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 2 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

9. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 3 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

10. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 4 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

11. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 5 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

12. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 6 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
