Abstract

Systems and a method are provided for producing an aromatic hydrocarbon and generating electricity from a tail gas stream. The method includes feeding a first stream including a raw natural gas into a reactor. The method includes converting the first stream, at least in part, to a second stream including an aromatic hydrocarbon within the reactor. The method includes separating the second stream into a tail gas stream and a liquid aromatic hydrocarbon stream and combusting at least a portion of the tail gas stream to generate electricity.

Claims (16)

1. An integrated method for producing an aromatic hydrocarbon and generating electricity from a tail gas stream, the method comprising:

feeding a first stream comprising raw natural gas into an aromatic reactor;

converting the first stream, at least in part, to a second stream comprising the aromatic hydrocarbon;

separating the second stream into the tail gas stream and a liquid aromatic hydrocarbon stream;

flowing the tail gas stream to a crude wash column, wherein liquids in the tail gas stream are solubilized with a crude oil wash and recovered as a liquid product, wherein the liquid product is combined with the liquid aromatic hydrocarbon stream; and

burning at least a portion of the tail gas stream in a gas turbine to generate the electricity.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first stream includes methane, C 2 -C 5+ hydrocarbons, CO, CO 2 , N 2 , H 2 S, organic sulfur compounds, or any combinations thereof.

3. The method of claim 1 , comprising flowing the first stream through a molecular sieve in the aromatic reactor.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second stream includes C 6 to C 9 aromatics.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein components in the first stream are converted at a temperature range from 750° F. to 1200° F.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising heating, in a furnace, the first stream with an exhaust heat from the burning of the portion of the tail gas stream in the gas turbine.

7. The method of claim 1 , comprising heating, in a heat exchanger, a a cooled heat exchange fluid with an exhaust from the burning of the portion of the tail gas stream in the gas turbine.

8. The method of claim 1 , comprising compressing and sending the tail gas stream to a distillation column, wherein a compressed tail gas stream includes one or more of methane (CH 4 ), ethane (C 2 H 6 ), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen, or hydrogen.

9. The method of claim 1 , comprising recycling at least a portion of the tail gas stream into the aromatic reactor as a diluent.

10. The method of claim 1 , comprising stabilizing the liquid aromatic hydrocarbon stream in a stabilizer.

11. The method of claim 1 , comprising transporting the liquid aromatic hydrocarbon stream to market.
