Abstract

A thermoelectric converter includes a first substrate that is deformable, a second substrate that is deformable, a plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements, and a group of electrodes. The plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements are disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The group of electrodes electrically interconnect the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements. The plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements are arranged in a plurality of rows. The group of electrodes include a bridge electrode disposed across a first row and a second row among the plurality of rows. The first row is adjacent to the second row. The bridge electrode has a first part whose thickness is smaller than a thickness of each of remaining electrodes other than the bridge electrode among the group of electrodes and whose surface area is larger than a surface area of each of the remaining electrodes.

Claims (19)

1. A thermoelectric converter comprising:

a first substrate that is deformable;

a second substrate that is deformable;

a plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

a group of electrodes that electrically interconnect the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements, wherein:

the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements are bonded to the group of electrodes, respectively,

the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements are arranged in a plurality of rows including a first row and a second row, the first row being adjacent to the second row, the plurality of rows extending in a same extending direction,

the group of electrodes includes a first electrode and a second electrode having a different shape from the first electrode, the first electrode electrically interconnecting between two of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the first row, the second electrode electrically interconnecting between one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the first row and one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the second row,

the first electrode has a pair of first bonding regions and a first non-bonding region connecting the pair of first bonding regions, the two of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the first row being bonded on the pair of first bonding regions, respectively, none of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements being bonded on the first non-bonding region,

the second electrode has a pair of second bonding regions and a second non-bonding region connecting the pair of second bonding regions, the one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the first row and the one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements in the second row being bonded on the pair of second bonding regions, respectively, none of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements being bonded on the second non-bonding region,

a thickness of the second non-bonding region of the second electrode in a first direction is smaller than a thickness of the first non-bonding region of the first electrode in the first direction, the first direction being perpendicular to a surface of the second electrode on which the one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements is bonded, and

a surface area of the second non-bonding region of the second electrode is larger than a surface area of the first non-bonding region of the first electrode.

2. The thermoelectric converter according to claim 1 , wherein a thickness of each of the pair of second bonding regions of the second electrode in the first direction is substantially the same as a thickness of each of the pair of first bonding regions of the first electrode in the first direction.

3. The thermoelectric converter according to claim 1 , wherein the second electrode has a notch formed on an edge of the second non-bonding region inbetween the first and second rows, the notch extending from the edge towards a center of the second electrode.

4. The thermoelectric converter according to claim 1 , wherein:

a first patterned portion is provided on a portion of a periphery of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate, the first patterned portion being not electrically connected to any of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements, the first patterned portion extending in a direction perpendicular to the extending direction of each of the plurality of rows, and

a second patterned portion is provided on another portion of the periphery of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate, the second patterned portion being electrically connected to one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements, the second patterned portion extending in a direction parallel to the extending direction of each of the plurality of rows.

5. The thermoelectric converter according to claim 1 , wherein a patterned portion is provided on a portion of a periphery of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate, the patterned portion being electrically connected to one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements, the patterned portion extending in a direction parallel to the extending direction of each of the plurality of rows.

6. The thermoelectric converter according to claim 5 , wherein the patterned portion is connected to a lead, the lead being electrically connected to the one of the plurality of thermoelectric conversion elements via the patterned portion.
