Use of gram negative species to treat atopic dermatitis
View Patent ↗Pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed that includes a therapeutically effective amount of a purified viable gram negative bacteria and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pharmaceutical compositions are formulated for topical administration. Methods of treating atopic dermatitis using these pharmaceutical compositions are also disclosed.
1. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa isolated from a subject that does not have atopic dermatitis, wherein the least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa is present in an amount sufficient for treatment of atopic dermatitis in a subject in need thereof, and
a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier,
wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated in a topical dosage form selected from the group consisting of a cream, gel, foam, ointment, and a lotion.
2. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa is present in an amount of 10 4 to 10 12 colony forming units.
3. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa is viable.
4. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa is purified.
5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa is present in an amount sufficient for a reduction in Staphylococcus aureus in the subject.
6. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa comprises up to three strains of Roseomonas mucosa.
7. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one strain of Roseomonas mucosa comprises up to five strains of Roseomonas mucosa.
8. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable carrier comprises sucrose.
