Abstract

An infused beverage brewing assembly that includes a solvent flow management system (SFMS) operable to receive a solvent and then at least one of modulate and maintain a flow of the solvent independent of a back pressure within a brewing chamber for housing a solute disposed to receive the solvent to produce an infused beverage, wherein the SFMS is in fluid communication with the brewing chamber through at least one solvent conduit, the assembly including an outlet for discharging the infused beverage and having an electronic control system communicatively coupled to and operable to selectively modulate the SFMS to at least one of modulate and maintain the flow of the solvent upstream of the brewing chamber and downstream of the SFMS independent of the back pressure without the use of a feedback mechanism for monitoring the flow of the solvent.

Claims (48)

1. An infused beverage brewing assembly comprising:

a solvent flow management system operable to receive a solvent and then at least one of modulate and maintain a flow of the solvent independent of a back pressure within a brewing chamber of the infused beverage brewing assembly, the solvent flow management system in fluid communication with the brewing chamber through at least one solvent conduit;

the brewing chamber for housing a solute disposed to receive the solvent to produce an infused beverage;

an outlet for discharging the infused beverage; and

an electronic control system communicatively coupled to and operable to selectively modulate the solvent flow management system to at least one of modulate and maintain the flow of the solvent upstream of the brewing chamber and downstream of the solvent flow management system independent of the back pressure without the use of a feedback mechanism for monitoring the flow of the solvent.

2. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising

a solvent temperature modulation system in fluid communication with the solvent flow management system and the brewing chamber through the at least one solvent conduit, the solvent temperature modulation system operable to modulate the temperature of the solvent upstream of the brewing chamber.

3. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 2 , further comprising:

an infusion pressure regulation system in fluid communication with, and downstream of, the brewing chamber through an infused solution conduit, the electronic control system communicatively coupled to, and operable to independently, selectively, and dynamically modulate, the infusion pressure regulation system, wherein the back pressure is caused by a flow of the solvent through the solute.

4. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 3 , wherein:

the electronic control system is operable to monitor one of a plurality of solvent characteristic variables at a location downstream of the solvent flow management system and the solvent temperature modulation system and a plurality of infused beverage characteristic variables at a location downstream of the infusion pressure regulation system.

5. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 4 , wherein:

the electronic control system is operable to independently and dynamically modulate at least one of the solvent flow management system, the solvent temperature modulation system, and the infusion pressure regulation system after receiving the one of the plurality of solvent characteristic variables.

6. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 5 , further comprising:

an infused beverage formula including at least one defined infused beverage parameter corresponding to the one of the plurality of solvent characteristic variables, the infused beverage formula accessible by the electronic control system, wherein the at least one of the solvent flow management system, the solvent temperature modulation system, and the infusion pressure regulation system is modulated to adjust the one of the plurality of solvent characteristic variables to correspond to the at least one defined infused beverage parameter.

7. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a solute modification system communicatively coupled to the electronic control system, the solute modification system operable to adjust at least one of a solute particle size and a solute compaction prior to an infusion process.

8. An infused beverage brewing assembly comprising:

a solvent flow management system including a 100% volumetric efficiency motor-driven pump operably configured to receive a solvent and at least one of modulate and maintain a flow of the solvent through a brewing chamber, independent of a back pressure at least partially within the brewing chamber caused by the flow of the solvent through a solute housed by the brewing chamber and disposed to receive the solvent to produce an infused beverage;

an electronic control system communicatively coupled to and operable to selectively modulate the solvent flow management system by sending an electronic signal to the motor-driven pump to at least one of modulate and maintain the flow of the solvent, wherein the electronic signal is sent independent of the back pressure; and

an outlet for discharging the infused beverage.

9. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 8 , wherein:

the motor of the motor-driven pump is operably configured to modulate a defined volume of the 100% volumetric motor-driven pump to generate the flow of the solvent from the motor-driven pump.

10. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 9 , wherein:

the electronic signal is sent without the use of a feedback mechanism for monitoring the flow of at least one of the solvent and the infused beverage.

11. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 10 , wherein:

the feedback mechanism is a flow meter.

12. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 8 , wherein:

the solvent flow management system is operably configured to dynamically modulate the flow of the solvent independent of the back pressure within the brewing chamber of the infused beverage brewing assembly.

13. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 8 , wherein:

the electronic control system is operably configured to modulate and maintain the flow of the solvent independent of the back pressure without the use of the feedback mechanism for monitoring at least one of solvent and the infused beverage.

14. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 8 , further comprising:

an infusion pressure regulation system in fluid communication with at least one pressure regulation component, wherein the at least one pressure regulation component is:

located downstream of the brewing chamber;

operable to selectively and dynamically modify an infusion process pressure greater than a pressure created upstream in the brewing chamber caused by the flow of the solvent through the solute; and

operably unaffected by a pressure differential across the at least one pressure regulation component during the infusion process.

15. The infused beverage brewing assembly according to claim 8 , further comprising:

an infusion pressure regulation system in fluid communication with, and downstream of, the brewing chamber through an infused solution conduit, the electronic control system communicatively coupled to, and operable to independently, selectively, and dynamically modulate, the infusion pressure regulation system, wherein the back pressure is caused by a flow of the solvent through the solute.

16. A method of inducing a flow of a solvent within an infused beverage brewing assembly, the method comprising:

receiving a solvent within a 100% volumetric efficiency motor-driven pump of a solvent flow management system during an infused beverage brewing cycle;

at least one of modulating and maintaining, based off an electronic signal sent to the motor-driven pump independent of a back pressure at least partially within a brewing chamber disposed downstream of the motor-driven pump, a flow of the solvent in the infused beverage brewing cycle to reach the brewing chamber by changing a volume within the 100% volumetric motor-driven pump to reach a brewing chamber; and

infusing a solute disposed within the brewing chamber during the infused beverage brewing cycle, with the solvent, to produce an infused beverage.

17. The method according to claim 16 , further comprising:

modulating the flow of the solvent in the infused beverage brewing cycle by the motor-driven pump to reach the brewing chamber independent of the back pressure at least partially within the brewing chamber without the use of the feedback mechanism.

18. The method according to claim 16 , wherein:

the feedback mechanism is a flow meter.

19. The method according to claim 16 , wherein:

the electronic signal is sent to the motor-driven pump without the use of a feedback mechanism for monitoring a fluid.
