Signature of TL1A (TNFSF15) signaling pathway
The present invention relates to the finding that TL1A enhances differentiation of TH17 cells, and enhance IL17 secretion from TH17 cells. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method of treating an inflammatory disease comprising determining the presence of a TL1A signaling profile, and treating the disease by administering a composition comprising a therapeutically effective dosage of one or more inhibitors of TL1A or TH17 cell differentiation. In another embodiment, the disease is characterized by TH17 differentiation.
1. A method of treating an inflammatory condition comprising asthma or inflammatory bowel disease in a subject, comprising:
determining an expression level of one or more cytokines in a sample from the subject; and
treating the inflammatory condition in the subject by administering to the subject an anti-TL1A antibody, provided that the expression level of the one or more cytokines is elevated, as compared to the expression level of the one or more cytokines in an individual that does not have the inflammatory condition;
wherein the one or more cytokines comprises IL-9.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is human.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is Asian.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the inflammatory condition is inflammatory bowel disease.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more cytokines further comprises IL-17 and/or IL-22 and the method further comprises determining the expression level of IL-17 and/or IL-22 in the sample from the subject.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the anti-TL1A antibody is administered in conjunction with an anti-inflammatory therapeutic.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the anti-Tl1A antibody is administered by direct injection to the subject.
8. A method of treating a disease comprising asthma or inflammatory bowel disease in a subject comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising a therapeutically effective dosage of an anti-TL1A antibody, provided that the subject has an elevated expression of IL-9, as compared to the expression of IL-9 in an individual that does not have the disease.
9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the subject is human.
10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the composition is administered in conjunction with treatment for inflammation.
11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the subject has elevated expression of IL-22 and/or IL-17.
12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the subject has elevated expression of a transcription factor.
