Abstract

A trigger device for activating a firing mechanism, the trigger device comprising a housing, a trigger pivotally mounted on the housing via a trigger pivot pin, a sear arm comprising a first sear surface, a ticker extending generally from the trigger to the sear arm, the ticker pivotable about a ticker pivot pin, the ticker comprising spaced apart flanges, each of which comprises an aperture defining at least a first contact surface, and a captured roller positioned at least partially within the apertures, wherein in a captured position the first sear surface and the first contact surfaces engage the captured roller and in a released position the first contact surfaces disengage from the captured roller to allow the captured roller to move within the aperture.

Claims (18)

1. A trigger device for activating a firing mechanism, comprising:

a trigger pivotally mounted on a housing via a trigger pivot pin;

an adjustable trigger biasing member configured to bias the trigger in a ready position;

a sear arm comprising a first sear surface;

a ticker extending generally from the trigger to the sear arm and rotatable about a ticker pivot pin, the ticker defining a slot configured to receive at least the first sear surface, the slot having a contact surface; and

a captured roller positioned at least partially within the slot, the captured roller configured to selectively engage the first sear surface and the contact surface.

2. The trigger device of claim 1 wherein the adjustable trigger biasing member comprises a wedge screw threadably coupled to the housing.

3. The trigger device of claim 2 wherein the adjustable trigger biasing member comprises a feedback member comprising a plurality of spaced-apart projections extending from a surface thereof, the wedge screw comprising a first end shaped to be received between at least two neighbouring projections.

4. The trigger device of claim 3 wherein the adjustable trigger biasing member comprises a spring positioned between the trigger and the feedback member, the spring configured to be compressed or extended based on a direction of rotation of the wedge screw with respect to the housing.

5. The trigger device of claim 4 wherein the feedback member is configured to provide feedback to a user upon rotation of the wedge screw each time the threaded wedge screw is repositioned between at least two neighbouring projections.

6. The trigger device of claim 5 wherein the feedback is an audible noise.

7. The trigger device of claim 3 wherein each one of the plurality of projections are is generally wedge-shaped.

8. The trigger device of claim 3 wherein the plurality of spaced-apart projections are oriented generally in a circle.

9. The trigger device of claim 4 wherein rotation of the wedge screw in a direction compresses the spring and rotation of the wedge screw in an opposite direction extends the spring.

10. The trigger device of claim 9 wherein a second end of the wedge screw comprises a socket configured to receive a tool.

11. The trigger device of claim 10 wherein the socket is a hexagonal socket.

12. The trigger device of claim 4 wherein rotation of the wedge screw in a direction causes the wedge screw to move in a first direction thereby compressing the spring, and rotation of the wedge screw in an opposite direction causes the wedge screw to move in a second direction thereby expanding the spring.

13. The trigger device of claim 12 wherein the first and second directions are opposing vertical directions.
