Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed for identifying persons and the like based on an incident report and projected travel distances, based on photographic data obtained from mobile devices traveling in the vicinity of the reported incident and the projected travel distance.

Claims (18)

1. A method for tracking the location of a person comprising:

receiving a report including report data of an incident;

by a processor, predicting an initial geographic location of a person associated with the incident of the report on a map and obtaining photographic data of the person from the report data;

by the processor, creating at least one time dependent circle on a map indicative of the predicted distance of travel of the person from the predicted initial geographic location based on the time after the incident;

obtaining photographic data from at least one mobile device traveling in an area proximate to the at least one circle; and,

comparing, by the processor, the obtained photographic data from the report data and the obtained photographic data from the at least one mobile device in the area proximate to the at least one circle, to obtain and find matching persons.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one mobile device is associated with a vehicle traveling in the area.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the vehicle is traveling over a roadway.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the creating at the at least one time dependent circle on a map includes creating a plurality of time dependent circles on the map.

5. A system for tracking the movement of a person comprising:

a processor; and,

storage media in communication with the processor for storing instructions executable by the processor, the instructions comprising:

analyzing a report of an incident;

predicting an initial geographic location of a person associated with the incident of the report on a map and obtaining photographic data of the person from the report;

creating at least one time dependent circle on a map indicative of the predicted distance of travel of the person from the initial geographic location based on the time after the incident;

obtaining photographic data from at least one mobile device traveling in an area proximate to the at least one circle; and,

comparing, by the processor, the obtained photographic data from the report data and the obtained photographic data from the at least one mobile device in the area proximate to the at least one circle, to obtain and find matching persons.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the creating at the at least one time dependent circle on a map includes creating a plurality of time dependent circles on the map.
