Abstract

Methods, devices, kits and compositions for detecting the presence or absence of one or more helminthic coproantigens in a sample are disclosed herein. The methods, devices, kits and compositions of the present invention may be used to confirm the presence or absence of roundworm, whipworm and/or hookworm in a fecal sample from a mammal and may also be able to distinguish between one or more helminth infections. Confirmation of the presence or absence of roundworm, whipworm and/or hookworm in the mammal may be made, for example, for the purpose of selecting an optimal course of treating the mammal and/or for the purpose of determining whether the mammal has been rid of the infection after treatment has been initiated.

Claims (22)

1. An immunocomplex comprising a first antibody specifically bound to a polypeptide, wherein the first antibody is capable of specifically binding to an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:19-23, 38, or Copro6728.

2. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide is obtained from a fecal sample.

3. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody does not specifically bind to a coproantigen selected from the group consisting of hookworm coproantigen, whipworm coproantigen, and heartworm coproantigen.

4. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody is labeled.

5. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the immunocomplex is bound to a solid support.

6. The immunocomplex of claim 5 , wherein the first antibody or the polypeptide is bound to the solid support.

7. The immunocomplex of claim 6 , wherein the solid support forms part of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay device.

8. The immunocomplex of claim 7 , wherein the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay device is a lateral flow immunoassay device.

9. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody is polyclonal.

10. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , wherein the first antibody is monoclonal.

11. The immunocomplex of claim 1 , further comprising a second antibody bound to the polypeptide of the immunocomplex to form a second immunocomplex.

12. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the second antibody is capable of specifically binding to an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:19-23, 38, or Copro6728.

13. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the second antibody does not specifically bind to a coproantigen selected from the group consisting of hookworm coproantigen, whipworm coproantigen, and heartworm coproantigen.

14. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the second antibody is labeled.

15. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the second immunocomplex is bound to a solid support.

16. The immunocomplex of claim 15 , wherein the first antibody or the polypeptide is bound to the solid support.

17. The immunocomplex of claim 16 , wherein the solid support forms part of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay device.

18. The immunocomplex of claim 17 , wherein the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay device is a lateral flow immunoassay device.

19. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the first antibody, the second antibody, or both are polyclonal.

20. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , wherein the first antibody, the second antibody, or both are monoclonal.

21. The immunocomplex of claim 11 , further comprising a third antibody bound to the second antibody of the second immunocomplex to form a third immunocomplex.

22. The immunocomplex of claim 21 , wherein the third antibody is labeled.
