Abstract

A dual-aperture zoom camera comprising a Wide camera with a respective Wide lens and a Tele camera with a respective Tele lens, the Wide and Tele cameras mounted directly on a single printed circuit board, wherein the Wide and Tele lenses have respective effective focal lengths EFL W and EFL T and respective total track lengths TTL W and TTL T and wherein TTL W /EFL W >1.1 and TTL T /EFL T <1.0. Optionally, the dual-aperture zoom camera may further comprise an optical OIS controller configured to provide a compensation lens movement according to a user-defined zoom factor (ZF) and a camera tilt (CT) through LMV=CT*EFL ZF , where EFL ZF is a zoom-factor dependent effective focal length.

Claims (20)

1. A dual-aperture zoom camera, comprising:

a) a Wide camera with a respective Wide lens and a Tele camera with a respective Tele lens, wherein the Wide and Tele lenses have respective effective focal lengths EFL W and EFL T and wherein EFL T >EFL W ; and

b) an optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism configured to provide a compensation for lens movement (LMV) of the Wide and Tele lenses according to a camera tilt (CT) input and a user-defined zoom factor (ZF), wherein LMV=CT×EFL ZF and wherein CT is a camera tilt in radians and EFL ZF is a zoom-factor dependent effective focal length in millimeters.

2. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein a height difference between the Tele and Wide cameras is equal to or smaller than 1.65 mm.

3. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein a ratio e=EFL T /EFL W between the effective focal lengths of the Tele and Wide cameras is in the range 1.3-2.0.

4. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 3 , wherein a ratio TTL T /TTL W between the total track lengths of the Tele and Wide cameras is smaller than 0.8e.

5. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein a height of the dual-aperture zoom camera has a value between 4 mm and 8 mm.

6. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein an air gap between the third lens element and the fourth lens element is greater than TTL T /5.

7. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein an air gap between the fourth lens element and the fifth lens element is smaller than 1.5 times a width of the fifth lens element.

8. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens has a F number smaller than 3.

9. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens has a F number substantially equal to 2.8.

10. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein the fourth lens element and the fifth lens element have different dispersions.

11. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein the fourth and fifth lens elements have opposite refractive power signs.

12. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein the third lens element has negative refractive power.

13. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein for ZF=1, EFL ZF =EFL W .

14. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein EFL T /EFL W =e, wherein e is in the range 1.3-2.0 and wherein for ZF>e, EFL ZF =EFL T .

15. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein EFL T /EFL W =e, wherein e is in the range 1.3-2.0 and wherein for ZF in the range 1<ZF<e, EFL ZF =ZF×EFL W .

16. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 1 , wherein the Tele lens comprises, starting form an object side, first, second, third, fourth and fifth lens elements and wherein an air gap between the first lens element and the second lens element is smaller than half a width of the second lens element.

17. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 16 , wherein the fourth lens element and the fifth lens element have opposite refractive power signs.

18. The dual-aperture zoom camera of claim 16 , wherein the third lens element has negative refractive power.
