Use of IL-17A and IL-17F cross-reactive monoclonal antibodies for treating inflammatory diseases
The present invention relates to blocking, inhibiting, reducing, antagonizing or neutralizing the activity of IL-17A and IL-17F. IL-17A and IL-17F are cytokines that are involved in inflammatory processes and human disease. The present invention includes antibodies that bind both IL-17A and IL-17F, as well as methods of using the same in inflammation.
1. A method of treating an inflammatory disease in a human comprising administering to the human a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a cross-reactive monoclonal antibody that binds to both IL-17A (SEQ ID NO:2) and IL-17F (SEQ ID NO:4) and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle, carrier, or excipient, wherein the antibody binds to a discontinuous IL-17A epitope comprising amino acid residues 107-111 and 149-154 of SEQ ID NO:2, and a discontinuous IL-17F epitope comprising amino acid residues 105-109 and 147-152 of SEQ ID NO:4, wherein the composition is suitable for parenteral, subcutaneous or intravenous administration, and wherein the composition reduces the pro-inflammatory activity of both IL-17A and IL-17F.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the inflammatory disease is psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, arthritis, atopic dermatitis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, systemic sclerosis, Sjögren's syndrome, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosis or graft-versus-host-disease.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the isotype of the antibody is IgG.
