Detection of analytes using metal nanoparticle probes and dynamic light scattering
View Patent ↗Disclosed herein are systems and methods for detecting Chemical Species, Biomolecules and Biotargets (Analytes) using receptor functionalized metal nanoparticles and Dynamic Light Scattering.
1. An assay method for the detection of an analyte, said method comprising:
providing a plurality of probes, said probes comprising a metal nanoparticles, wherein said metal nanoparticles are optionally conjugated with receptors;
providing a plurality of aggregation inducers,
contacting a sample solution suspected of including at least one analyte with a plurality of probes comprising a metal nanoparticles conjugated with receptors and said plurality of aggregation inducers to form assay solution, wherein said plurality of probes associates with said plurality of aggregation inducers to become aggregated nanoparticles and wherein a presence of said analyte competes with said aggregation inducers to thereby reduce aggregation of said probes;
directing light toward said assay solution; and
obtaining DLS data from said sample solution using dynamic light scattering, wherein said DLS data indicates a change in average particle size and/or a change in particle size distribution, and optionally, further comprising the step of
determining a concentration of said at least one analyte if present in said assay solution from said DLS data.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said determining step comprises obtaining the average particle size of the assay solution.
3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing a correlation between said relative ratio and said concentration of said analyte in said assay solution.
4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising establishing a correlation between average particle size and said concentration of said analyte in said assay solution.
